Spain area guides
As you've probably noticed we never seem to sit still for very long.
We've been working on a new project for Eye on Spain and we're looking for your input during this development stage.
As the popularity of the website increases week on week (currently around 9,000 people visit the site every day) we are always looking to provide more and more content for the site. It's a big job!
One of the areas that we've always been lacking in is in having information about the different areas of Spain, towns, villages, cities, etc. So, I recently had the big idea that we should do some area guides covering as much of Spain as possible.
But I wanted to do something a bit different to what's already out there.
So we've started putting together some guides which include videos, photos, maps, hotels, weather and news.
However, the idea is that you, the users, will be able to add to these guides. You will be able to add your own comments, videos, photos, etc. The guides are for YOU so you should have a hand in what's in them.
In essence the area guides will grow dynamically the more that people contribute to them.
So today I wanted to show you where we're at with it and ask you to give us some feedback.
Do you like the idea?
Do you like the content?
Would you like to see other content on there?
What about a reviews section for restaurants, hotels, etc?
Do we include local businesses, clubs, societies, etc?
What about a "I'm in this area, let's be friends" section?
Rental listings, property listings?
I'm really just looking for some ideas before we finally open it up to enable you to contribute to the guides and make them public.
I would really appreciate your feedback. I want these to be the best, most informative, interactive and up-to-date Spain area guides on the Internet. With your input I think we can achieve that.
OK, see where we are now with this:

Great idea Justin. I would definitely be interested in a facility to meet other people in Albox area.
Keep up the good work.
Great idea
How about "where to park" and "where to find ATM's"
Hi Justin.
Sounds a great idea and I would like to put some input with regards Puerto Cabopino where we have a place. Photo's provided aswell.
I am very happy to let you have whatever info you require re Torrevieja, Alicante. I have much available on www.thisisspain.info
As for the looooooooooooong list of towns you are showing, I think this should be cut down. Many are no more than hamlets or collections of homes around a cross roads. I'd suggest you focus on "real" towns.
Hope this helps
Steve
Great site, best site I have seen. Love the 'user' guide material!

Sounds Really good! I'd be happy to provide info on my area Orihuela/Jacarilla
Hi Justin
Yes a great idea. But. I have checked the information about the Area where my house is Thats El Alamillo it starts right with the location and then drifts off to info on Alamillo near Seville. So not 100% right.
I have run a msn community website for the past 6 and a half years at one perod it held in excess of 500 members all purchasing in the Murcia area of Spain. In all I think all the information that has past through the website has helped many includind myself. So I can see where you are coming from. You can't do it all on your own input from members is most important. I visit El Alamillo one week out of every month and hold lunches for my members. This works very well in those that live in the area as residents to meet those that only use there home for holidays. Any help Ref El Alamillo I would be more than pleased to help out.
Best Regards John B

Hi Justin, great idea.We would like to see maps that identify the different urbanisations. We are looking fornproperty and the ads tell uds which Urbs dwellings are on but we often cannot find out where the urb is.
Addition of what social activities are happening in the different areas would also be a good idea i.m.o.What clubs, dances etc.
Thanks for a great site.

I think this is a great idea, I would especially like to see a list of businesses/clubs/associations in the area. Perhaps the photos could be put into folders (ie - fiestas, scenery, townlife, beaches etc) so when there get to be lots of pics you don't have to trawl through them all to get to whatevers underneath - and people could just see the pics that are of interest to them. What about a "new developments" section where you can list any up-and-coming things in the area ie: new proposed buildings, shops/centres etc, and an "upcoming events" where fiestas and things can be posted. I think it's a great idea, and love the fact that we can contribute too

An excellent idea! EOS just gets better and better. Just a week away from completing in Vera Playa so will add some comments as soon as.
Good idea! I would be interested in regional information about Nerja.
Also, regarding Eye on Spain's short-term property rentals listings. It would be great if a search by town could be offered to speed up the review process.
Great site!
Have just spent half an hour running around the web-site but can't discern how to give you photos! Age problem, 'spose! 60+ and thoroughly in love with Spain. Naturist and have de fotos de Guardamar beach, north of the Segura but still Guardamar,as I understand it. Great idea! For too long, so many of the comments do seem to be Sol orientated and we(me) up 'ere in Blanca South feel(s) left out.
Hi Justin
Really like this idea for all the info you can get about each area.
I looked at the Miraflores area where we have a place in the Malaga region the google map shows the Miraflores near Madrid ! If you type into the google map Miraflores Mijas it give you the correct location. I will add some info aswell soon. Thanks Dave
Hi Justin
I think its a great idea to have a facility that would enable people to make contact with others locally. Especially in the Benalmadena area.. Ok I maybe bias there
Great Site
Sandra
This is a marvellous idea Justin. I am sure that everyone will agree that we appreciate the work you do to make this such a good site. I think I am one of your original members.
Hi Justin
I would love to select the area and town from a link on a map so I could see which are close together. Like http://www.bbc.co.uk/whereilive/ and http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/whereilive/
Great idea Justin. However, I have just has a look at the La Matanza (Alicante) Guide, and the map shows La Matanza in Tenerife. Oops! Early days but I am sure it will improve.
Hi Justin I tried to add a comment yesterday . Unfortunaely i haven`t got the excuse of old age i`m just a technophobe i think . N E Way . love the idea . would be great if there was something around Hellin or Agramon . We are buying on the Finca Parc development there . We are going out in about 6 weeks so maybe we can put some stuff on ourselves . i will have to get my Techie husband on the case . great work from all you guys at EOS . thanks for all the info , forums etc .
Jill (Tangirl)
Great idea Justin. I agree with the comment regarding focusing on larger towns. When you select a town, can I suggest that you include details as to the location of municipal offices and other important "official" buldings. Also, advise dates of local fesivals/markets. (The latter since markets often mean no car parking will be available!)
Regards,
Wes.
