Paramount Spain News

Keeping you up-to-date with the excitement of the news that a new Paramount Pictures theme park will be opening in Murcia, in Costa Calida in Spain in the not too distant future.

Panic over for Paramount in Murcia?
Wednesday, October 6, 2010 @ 7:53 PM

After yesterday's news about Jesus Semper, the man with the "brains" behind the Paramount Murcia project, being accused of all sorts of illegal financial activities, it seems that it's not such a problem when it comes to the Paramount Murcia project going ahead.

Although Semper's company, Santa Monica Financial Services, is the main party behind the acquisition of the funding for the park, it is now a joint company, called Proyectos Emblemáticos Murcianos, between Santa Monica (80%), the local development institute (10%) and the regional Murcia government (10%).

So although the "main man" is in a bit of bother, the actual company driving the project forward isn't just Semper.

The word on the street is that what happened yesterday isn't going to affect the future of the Paramount Pictures theme park in Murcia.

Mind you, we've not had any comments from Paramount themselves yet so we'll see, but things aren't really as bad as they seemed yesterday.

And by the way, it appears that Grupo Fuertes has entered into an agreement regarding the location of the park....which is to be Alhama!  No official confirmation yet, just some insider knowledge.  Let's see if he's right.

I do not think the pnaic is over at all .Please remember "Paramount " have nothing at all whats so ever to do with this project .They have simply allowed their name to be used a bit like a music royalty not a real endorsement at all and the recent legal issues probobably breach the terms of the contract anyway ! As for the local development Institute and Regional Government backing the project it is only if and when a proper financial and feesable proposal plan is in place .Hardly likely now ??????
This project is pie in the sky Balderdash , piffle and a complete laod of tosh . I will eat my hat and yours if it ever goes ahead !!!!!!!! What nonsense !!!

Messaage for Simon Taylor: You chill out! Everyone on this forum is entitled to their opinion in the main forums and on the blogs, regardless if you, I and others like it or not!

I have often thought that this rumor was the same as the one in Manilva, in that it will not be an actual Paramount theme park, but a licensed children's activity park, or summer camp. The later being what was 'verbally' agreed would eventually take place in Manilva, by representatives from both the Manilva Ayuntamiento and Disney.

People must learn that here in Spain, the adage "don't believe it until you see it!" is the best stance to adopt.

Hi all you eager to learn. The Good news is the project IS happening. Paramount are announcing the exact date and location at the beggining of April but have already chosen their site, see the latest press releases. And yes, the paramount tag is just a tag, exactley the same as disneylands is and every other major franchise-esque business that lends its name to a developer for a hefty fee!

Hope this helps fan the flames of your internest interest in Paramount's Passion for Profit!
