POLL: Do you prefer Christmas in Spain or the UK?
Friday, December 29, 2017 @ 3:00 PM

Although over 5 million Britons will have spent Christmas abroad this year, many will also have gone back to the UK to be with their families and friends or taking a holiday elsewhere. Although Spain at Christmas is very different to the UK most shouldn’t have any trouble finding their traditional British Xmas goodies to help them through the festive period; mince pies, Christmas pudding, turkey, stuffing, crackers and so on, are now readily available in most expat regions of Spain.

In my opinion, Spain certainly doesn’t feel as festive as the UK at this time of year so to get into the spirit seems to be a little harder over here I find. So it wouldn’t surprise me if The UK were more popular for Christmas. Spain just isn’t as Christmassy as Britain, call it commercial or what you want, but it doesn’t feel the same.

What do you think? Do you prefer the Spanish or the UK Christmas? Please cast your vote...

I don't know as will be Christmas in UK because I haven't spent there but I think that them will be also wonderful around family and friends. In Spain there are a lot of commercial, etc people to buy to many things but I think that The Christmas are more feelings of heart.

I'm not a fan of Christmas and it's so much easier to ignore in Spain!

I spent Christmas at home in England where it was wet and windy crowded shops and people all rushing about.
In Spain I would decorate my apartment have a tree and put fairy lights all around my patio this would make me feel very christmassy especially with a great bit dollop of sunshine

Sorry! but for me No Atmosphere in Spain like UK, Carol Singers come to call Christmas Eve... waking up Christmas morning with the traditional opening of presents....Christmas dinner with all the family especially the Grand Children just does not taste the same or as good in Spain for some reason.....Happy New Year

I think that we expect Spain to be the same as UK, whereas the Three Kings is the Spanish Christmas and they have seemed to adopt the 25th because of our influence, which is a shame, as we should appreciate the customs of the country we have emigrated to and not try to get them them to adopt ours and make comments like, "it's not the same here". That's fine, just go back the UK and enjoy the way you like it and leave us to go along with the way it's done here.
Of course there will be a commercial aspect to this as well, the retailers getting a double whammy at the pockets of the punters.
Bah Humbug!!

I generally say: `People not places` but as there are no close people left in this old guy`s life then Spain it is for weather cost etc.

I would love to spend Christmas in either England or Spain and live there too. People are what matters most and the people in England and Spain I have found to be very friendly and kind. Anne

Christmas is all about family & close friends, it is wherever they are that counts.
