Another Rental Choice

I tell you how to get a better tenant for your property - and how you find a better flat for yourself for weeks, months or years - all in Finnish!

Late - I am sorry...
Sunday, October 17, 2010

I promised to update this blog last Monday, however, it is so "hurry" that there is no time for nothing. Now a few words of the idea of this blog:

1) I hope I could tell something about my own experiences (of Spain) from early 70s to 2010 and beyond

2) the main reason - or target - is to expand british people's knowledge of "themselves in Spain". I assume the most visitors on this EOS-www are from UK, and I really want to tell the comments I/we have heard concernig (all!) English-speaking population - independent are they "tourists" or living here as an expat. But pls note: I realize - of course - that these comments DO NOT refer to all individuals - but if there is one "bad egg in the basket" it is very ease to say that all egs are "spoiled"...

3) last but not least: I will tell something about "the better way" to find a short- or long term home for UK-people - even to rent or buy.

Starting #1 - of course:

I visited first time in Spain at -74. I had a meeting in Barcelona with my colleaques thruout Europe, and we enjoyed the April weather, the feelings at Ramblas, restaurants and bars. We visited in all the "musts" wondering Sagrada Família (it is still the same as 1974 - no new construction!), Columbus's ships Santa Maria etc - all new and exotic for "young" people from Finland (you must realize that Finnish people found the tourism (outside Finland) just a few years earlier in 60s. (By the way, have you visited at Malaga's airport Museum, there is the first civil airplane landed to Malaga 1959 after the militants - it was a Finnish Kar-Air's Convair Metropolitan - "opened" last Autumn after 50 years of "closed" airport. Sorry to say, this Convair is a US-based replica...!)

We visited also in the Monastery of Montserrat with my friends. We even established a "Hermandad de Saint Montserrat" - only four members - who liked (and like) beer, wine and Spain...

After the official days in Cataluña we had a flight to Malaga for the long weekend. Wow, we took a taxi to the hotel Estrella del Mar very close to Marbella. Pls note again: the hotel was not like nowadays: it was a very small and intimate place for youngsters to stay for weekend and check all the Costa del Sol's "miracles" - and visit of course in Gibraltar; the place which was closed on those times. We met also some young Spanish and Germany "señoritas" (no British...) but that is another story...

Barcelona, Marbella and Spain - I left my heart to San Fra... Spain. That's all for today.

Game is over...
Sunday, October 10, 2010

...Suzuka F1 is over - I have to drink poor Coke, not cava. Only ten out of twelve was the result of my best bet, I'll get - maybe - a few coins or nothing at all. However, sun is shining after yesterday's rain (both in Suzuka AND Fuengirola) - so let's go out!

More on Monday...

Hola Buenos Dias Suzuka!
Sunday, October 10, 2010

Saturday has gone - no qualifying in F1 until this morning. I like formulas - but I do not want to wake up at 3-4 AM... But the race will start after >1 h and be sure, I will be sitting and watching TV (Lasexta...).

Depending on my betting (in Finland's official www.veikkaus.fi -site) I will open a bottle of cava or just take a coke!

So back to my blog's heading: I continue on Monday.

Hurry weekend
Saturday, October 9, 2010

Hola buenos dias, amigos!

I just want to inform: I wake up early in the morning - just today as well as Sunday - I have a special reason for that: Formula 1 -game at Suzuka, Japan. I am interested in all motorsport - as almost everybody in Finland - and specially of F1. Sorry to say: Finns do not have no "champions" at this moment after Kimi Räikkönen, Mika Häkkinen  and early 80s' Keke Rosberg (whos son Nico is Finnish-German citizen). Heikki Kovalainen is in the game but sorry to say, no way to the championship with his (British...) team Lotus

That's all for today - I continue if Heikki will get the pole position!

Why this blog?
Friday, October 8, 2010

First of all - I apologize my English ( I'm a Finn - and proud of it!). Secondly, I try to tell my story from early 70s to 2010 and beyond - and of course the whole story tells about Costa del Sol and my own experiences from Helsinki to Marbella, Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo, Cadiz, Torremolinos, Malaga - and finally to Fuengirola, Los Boliches - the biggest Finnish "City area"  outside Finland. You probably didn't know that - this information is based on Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb's visit here in March - before Mr and Mrs Obama's Marbella visiting...

Third thing: I will also use some Finnish in my blog - it is easier to explain "difficult things" by my own language. I hope you can find somebody to translate text into English if you are really interested in... And of course I try to use some Spanish words - just to tell that I have learned a new word! Until now my Spanish is limited to Hola Buenos Dias, Gracias, Una-dos-tres-quattro-cinco etc...

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: I will tell you later on how you will get a better price - maybe? - out of your property in Costa del Sol (Fuengirola) and also, how to find a temporary home for you - better than you expected. The reason is simple: Finland! I tell you why (and pls be seated!) - MOST of the SPANISH people do not like English people - even that 90% (?) of British are ok. The rest 10% (?) are "bullshit" in Spanyards' mindset - just like we Finns were at early 70s when we found Europe. Follow me - I keep you on track for better living here is Costa!
