Update on progress on site

Confirmation of ongoing work on the site

El Pinet: Update on work
Sunday, April 11, 2010

As my first posting, I hope this "site activity" update may be useful/informative.

I have just returned from a 2 week break in my completed apartment during which time I toured the site and made the following observations:

Street lighting of the entire site was almost finished (only 4 or 5 of the"more difficult" installations to be completed).

Professional road surfacing progressing, starting from (front corner near "campsire") villas, and currently back as far as "single width road" running along by the "farm". Roundabout (with 2 palm trees) now surfaced. Sweeping and surface preparation along towards "show house" is underway. Some resident complaints of water supply pipes being used for construction then not reconnected?

Large area (originally for proposed hotel/commercial development), cleared of fly tipping / builders rubble and level. Some rubble removed (by skip) from behind partially-completed apartment frames. A good deal of "tidying up" has been done.

Different villa is now the showhouse, some photos of different property types/dimensions etc attached to outside fence, presumably to attract sales? Seems to be a few prospective purchasers looking round, with "site rep".

Sewage tank/pumping station located at bottom corner of site on spare land (near dismantled campsite). A tanker was loading from this station, which should have installed pumping? Not sure about this, if pumps are installed, why use a tanker, unless it's just a regular emptying of unpumpable debris?

30 or so mobile homes established on new carpark between large villas and demolished campsite. Areas was clean.

Partially-completed apartments at top of site: Steps finished including handrails? This seems irrational as the structure still requires considerable work? If you have invested in an apartment here, I would be optimistic of a future completion.

Subjective analysis:

Residents/community reps are doing a good job with snagging/defect lists on pools/walls/gates etc. 2-way communication with San Jose seems positive even though completion times are not always achieved. In my view residents are essential in the attainment of our common goal, site security/completion.

Gut Feeling!

Very optimistic with recent activity, after 5 years of grave concern. I hope San Jose can rise from administration and finish the site as initially planned. To those with unfinished props, things are a little brighter, I hope your dreams are fulfilled.
