Bank Acconts

Hi 

We are coming over in July/August but need a bank account, can any one recommend a good one with english speaking staff and local to SG.

Hi,

We use the www.halifax.es It's all in English and we can do free transfers from our English Halifax account. The rate is not the best in the world but it's easy to run, even the statements are in English.

If you keep 600 euros in the account there are no charges. Also no charges for drawing out cash with your card, make sure you use the right machine though.

we use Bankinter - access can be in English - can do telephone and internet banking - got visa debit cards / cheque book / seem to be lots of branches in Spain / we have found them very helpful - they were originally a partnership between Banco Santander and the American Bank - they now stand alone  - listed on the Spanish stock exchange.
  Try looking on the web all branches are listed.

I'm on a diet so no cakes, now chocolate thats another story........................ We are arriving on the 23rd JULY. We could only get the late flight so I expect we will be there about 10pm ish. I'm working on Pete to bring his golf clubs because we will be there for three weeks and I think he will probably get withdrawal symptons, so could everyone post a reply inviting him to play. That way he may well bring them and save my sanity. Tell Jan to get her walking shoes out as I have been in touch with a dog sactuary (thank you Rosemary) and they would love anyone who can take the dogs out to contact them.

I know I am going to find it difficult because as you know I love dogs especially the little scruffy ones. I am going to have to be realy hard because when we go away there is no one who can look after them for me now. That leaves kennels and we have had a few bad experiences in the past. So I will not be tempted, I will not be tempted, I will  not be tempted, I will not be tempted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!but you never know.

Regarding Bank accounts we also have one with Bankinter, we have managed to find a few branches around our main branch is in torrevieja but there is one on the strip at Sanjavier on way to Los Alcazares
nearly opposite  the Supermarket and Chinese wok buffet etc. 
Really handy 
As with all just watch where you withdraw as each bank charges for other banks use and it is on amount withdrawn not a set fee. 
We used the machine in Balsicas and it was a surprise how much. 

Not sure what bank it is in Balsicas but that would be the local one to Sg and have seen a few machines for that particular one on our travels around the area. 

What we like is different to the English banks you get a transaction statement every time, listing clearly all details,  a total as well as monthly statements. You can access english speaking staff really easily and internet banking is pretty straight forward.

We even get texts to wish us a happy birthday.
