Banks

Has anyone had any problems with their Bank - we opened our account with Caja Murcia in July 2005

When we were  there in September this year we called into the bank asked for a statement only to find out that they had taken 9.00 euros out of our account every quarter just for leaving our money in the bank.  We complained and were told they would give us the charges back - but surprise surprise we've not had the charges put back and now can't access our account online.

Looks as though the €9 per quarter is the standing charge for the account you opened.
"Free" banking appears to be a rarity in Spain; most accounts levy a "maintenance charge".
Banco Halifax Espana for example levy maintenance charges on their current account,
and also separately on a savings account if you open one. Sunshine Surcharge?
