Internet Access

Hi Folks

Dont want to appear blonde (more grey actually) but am moving over to our apartment for the summer - July and August - and would love to take my laptop with me, if only to keep my son happy.   I wasnt going to bother but think it might be worthwhile.  I am heading over on Tuesday and even though travelling with Ryanair, think might manage to squeeze it in hand luggage.

Can someone please tell me (in very simple language) if it is possible to get internet connection - and if so how I go about getting it.  Will I need to buy a connection in Ireland or is there something I get in Spain! 

Any help would be appreciated - please keep it simple  as my brain cant cope with anything to complicated!!

Hi, I'm out tomorrow and am bringing my laptop.  I think there is a bar/cafe on Camposol that you can get free wifi if you just buy a drink and there is a shopping centre next to Ikea in Murcia which offers wifi.  Hope that's helpful.

Your other option would be to buy a "dongle" (USB Mobile Boradband) from home and you can use that whilst you are over there.  The downside is that you have to have one on a contract - which is anywhere between £15 and £30 (sterling) per month.  You then pay a roaming charge to use it when you are in Spain - again the price varies but my vodaphone one is £7.50 for a 24 hour period over there...    The upside is that you can use it in your aparament or anywhere else you want

It's probably only suitable if you are going to use it regularly.   I know that vodaphone and Three do them in the UK - I assume that the same applies in Ireland.

Other option would be to get a Spanish equilivant which would obviouslty mean that you don't pay the roaming chrages, but you'd need to use that fairly regularly out there to warrant paying the monthly fee : i guess that depends on circumstances

You can pay a one off fee and buy the Polaris World Modem then buy time via the area net card 12€ for 300 minsyou can then use Laptop in your apartment or without the modem in the bar area.

We can test an orange dongle in your apartment before you make any decision.
