I am probably not going to take on the developer's mortgage but I know I am not legally bound to pay the 1% they are asking for not taking on their mortgage - anyone else feel the same way?

Yes,we feel the same.  We are about to complete on another property with another developer which has the same issue.

Will keep you posted on how it goes.
