Hi All
We are going to be looking for a medium size gas bottle (propane or butane) on our visit to SG next week.
We are bringing a small gas BBQ and would appreciate any input telling us where to get a bottle from and the cost involved.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
See you all soon

Hi Niglam1
I'm flying out next week to do the same but you need a contract to get the 1st bottle. You can get the contract at Calor gas yard in Torre Pacheco. If you need any futher info on this let me know.

Hi Jackie by law you should have a calor gas contract, if anything was supposedly go wrong it may invalidate any household insurance claims.

Hi Roddy1.
I have read this and it looks like if you want gas for cooking then you will need a contract which i already know that but we were told you do not need one for calor gas heaters. The best thing to do is go to the garage and ask them.

Hi Jackie
All I can say is that several months ago I went to ferreteria located in San Javier, and was refused the purchase, because of having no contract. I asked a neighbour about the situation and he stated it was correct that you require a contract to get the 1st bottle, afterwhich it is a simple process of exchanging one empty in return for full bottle. I have also heard that he BP garage in Balsicas on occasions supplied the 1st bottle without any contract (sounds a bit like the local off-licence in the Uk selling cigarettes and alcohol to minors). I believe the whole principle behind it is safety issue, I also know that I recently purchased a garden patio heater from BQ for use in the Uk, and had to go through similiar process. All I'm stating are the facts if their was an accident then I'm pretty sure that any insurance company would use it wriggle out of paying out, don't forget it not just property that might get damaged it could also be your neighbours has well!. Personally I feel that for sake of a couple of hours work obtaining the contract it is better in the long run.
