totaly agree with you. We have been there every 3 months since December 2008, and have seen development from each time. I'll find Clover, resturant and the golf course as very good. I still think they have to fill Al Kazar with more business, that will make everything more like a good hub as it should be. A new clubhouse is a must. Reopen Manzano snack bar and sports facilities will make everything pretty perfect!

All the best from Tigerick!

Hi All, what wonderful responses I've just read, there are ceretainly lovely people to be had down at CDA you have all made me feel much better about my purchase.  From now on I will try and not read the negative blogs about the resort.  (even if it is sometime true) as it  really does'nt do any of us any good, we are all in this together and lets make it work.  (gosh I was ready to quit this morning!).  Next step for me is to visit!

Thank you again.

Hi Debzzie,

You'll not regret it and you'll make lots of new friends in the process, if you require any info or advice these are the peeps to ask as we have all been there, got the tee shirt etc.

Good luck and enjoy your lazy days by the pool.

Ali

Debzzie,

Had our first proper break at Condado at easter and met fantastic people out there and have made new friends(probably for life but don't let Ali and Simon know). Yes somethings aren't finished but that didn't spoil our time out there. Can't wait for the next visit and all the others to follow.

I have fallen in love.......with my little piece of sunshine!!!

Carla

Hi There

Like Debzzie we are glad to see some positive comments regarding CDA. We think that things will get better given time. There is as we all know a world wide recession going on which Spain and Polaris have not escaped. from. Lets all hope that things turn round for everyones benefit.

All,

Thought I would offer my thoughts on this to try and get a bit of perspective. I recently swapped from Terrazas after visiting the Condado resort, playing the course (fantastic) and viewing a top floor appartment (amazing views) As a comparison I used to play all my golf in Costa Del Sol where a friend has an apartment on a course. And the vast majority of these have no supermarket, no bar, no restaurant and only a small clubhouse.

Polaris did have grand schemes however the recession is the sole reason for the current situation. Also chlidren on the course and graffiti are issues that are the responsibility of the parents and can happen anywhere.

I actually welcome all comments that are factual, useful, balanced and helpful. The rest are pointless.

A big thank you to all those who have helped me over the last 3 months - you know who you are

Hey Smivs,

Completed 2 weeks ago by POA on Block 11, top floor, near to Faulky and will be out on the 26th June. I cant wait and neither can my golfing buddies who are desparate to play Condado again. Will also try Roda Golf and Hacienda del Alamo as we have played all the Polaris courses already. Oh and will be cheering loudly for England in the Clover bar!

Looking forward to meeting you all

Are we as a community able to contact the banking group that now owns the sports area and what was the snackbar.

We could perhaps approach them with regard to renting these facilities back to the community. The room that was the gym would make an ideal community room and I am sure we could get a brewery to refurnish the bar. This is a great opportunity to bring in some healthy competition to the monopoly that Polaris currently enjoy.

We would be able to charge reasonable rates for the tennis / paddle courts etc and make it the focal point of the resort. We would have office space for the running of the community & perhaps Millenium Levante could also use some decent office space. Does anyone know who now owns the football pitches now and how we book them if required.

It's just a thought, we have no facilities for the kids at the moment apart from the pools and they are going to get seriously bored, which in turn will take the shine off the family holiday.

Instead of waiting for Polaris or some other company to come in and provide the facilities, maybe we should look at becoming masters of our own destiny.

Good point frenchmik. Maybe someone could find out if the banks would be interested. Perhaps some of the presidents who are on the forum could find out if it would be possible. We think that is the big problem with the Al Kazar that PW dont want anyone in there who will take trade away from the clover or restaurant so could  sit pretty much half empty for a long while.Pretty sure someone would love to run a bar in competition with the clover and some budding business would gladly rent some office or shop space. As far as the football pitches go the last time we were over the gates to one pitch were open so dont see why you couldnt pop down for a game.

Think I remember reading that after the AGM the community Presidents will approach the Banks on this point. Although they may have done already and found the rental is too expensive- vague memory of this being mentioned on  CdAservices podcast week before last. I think the idea was to slightly increase the Community Charge to cover the rental. Anyway its either been done and dismissed or is to be done after the AGM on the 29th. Maybe PTAN could say which it is.

Just back and unfortunately courts are not open - at least not officially!!

Tennis courts - the wire at one end (near the old bar) has been lifted to allow access - and in the middle through to the other court.  Squash courts are not locked - no lights, but can be used.  Paddle courts, one door of court 6 was not locked, the other 5 courts were locked.  Football/basketball court locked but wire pulled up.

It is a real shame that the courts were all left locked, and a bit petty, this has resulted in damage to fences, and a bit of frustration when people want to play paddle with 5 unuseable courts.

don't think anyone cares until it starts to affect them. hope the AGM gets just a little bit of time to talk abut this mess and

before anyone comes up with this is not a community problem ,bank owns it , have a good think.

just came back a fortnight ago and when we were there the courts were padlocked and people were damaging the surrounding fence by squeezing underneath to get access.  What a waste of a resource!  Also the Manzana premises are completely empty - except for rubbish!!!!

This is madness. Because the courts are locked, they are now being damaged. Can it please be asked at the AGM that the courts are unlocked, so that people can at least us the facilities until a new landlord takes control. At least then, the courts will be used correctly and not further damaged.

At this rate the courts will be wrecked, and therefore not attractive to a new company.

I think people are slighlty over exaggerating about the state of the fences. However i dont condone it. But i agree with most people on here something needs to be done at the AGM. I for one am not happy with the way things are going regarding the sports facilities and a provisional plan needs to be put forward to try and find a solution for this fixable problem.

Relating to tomgeorge on the "i hope the gardens arent going to turn into football pitches" i doubt this will happen we have 3 perfectly well kept grass football pitches which in hindsight are used quite a lot when it gets busy. I for one am a big user of them.

Another issue which needs to be brought up but the presidents have no control over is the Clover. There is no atmosphere in there anymore i would sooner go to camposol or to the port and spend my money there. I mean if i was running the place i would have entertainment nights on at the weekend with DIFFERENT singers/bands, kareoke as before on a sunday i think alot of people enjoyed that. Quiz night. Theme nights. Id also change some of the staff because lets put it straight some of them dont move ffrom the top end of the bar.

However im still enjoying life on condado de alhama and look forward to the future.

Rob
