I asked Golf Invest about the building work opposite LM3, and they replied (excuse their English but it's still better than I could do in Spanish)
The building work which has been started is not directly in front of your property, it is located on the right side on the opposite of the road of Fase III. It is the same builder like Lunamar III, that means it will be absolutely the same style, same apartment, but we still did not release it for sale.
The sales are going very well; in Fase III are just left 2 Topfloor and 2 Groundfloor at this stage.
So I'm pretty happy with that, but will verify in April

Has everybody seen the latest idea from the Conservative Party about flight taxes. Basically if they get into power they will do away with the £10 flight tax and replace it with VAT and some kind of frequent travellers tax. so if we fly to our spanish homes from the UK several times a year we will be made to pay extra.
I'm as green as the next person but this is utter hogwash, we have all worked hard, saved enough to buy a little piece of our dreams and these (I'll use the word people but it's not the word I want to use) come up with this...
Maybe they should use the £4 billion that has been spent on the Iraq war to fund their green projects and leave us alone.
It seems that now you even have to pay to LEAVE the UK....
And the madness is that it won't change our behaviour.. are we really going to buy these Spanish homes and not visit them because it suits the trendy green aspirations of a politician? Not on your life. So we will simply end up forking out more for the privilege. And will this tax go towards helping the environment.? (Sorry I had to stop typing for a minute to watch a pig flying past my window)
Well "Dave", I have voted Conservative in every election since I was old enough to vote...but this time you have got no chance of my vote...
Rant over....

Hi guys. We are going out TOMORROW!
With 320 days of sun a year in that part of Spain, we chose the week when it's forecast to rain :-(
Still I intend to take lots of pictures and post some on here.
We have a meeting arranged with our solicitor to talk about Spanish wills and to begin the NIE process, and I am looking forward to trying out my Spanish SIM card and the debit/cashpoint card for my Spanish Bank Account
We are away for a week, but the day after I come back I have to go to Switzerland on a business trip for another week, so probably won't get to upload the photos for a couple of weeks...sorry
Hasta Luego

I’m typing this in a break between meetings and before I leave for the airport……
Firstly, LMIII looks pretty impressive close up especially as when I was last there it was nothing more than a set of foundations. One thing that does bother me though is that in all the drawings/artists impressions, the gardens for those of us on the ground floor seem to extend out to give some unshaded space. However unless they extend onto what is now the public pavement, all the gardens will be completely covered/shaded by the top floor. I wanted to ask Pilar about this but (as always) they were closed for Siesta….
I can also clear up the situation regarding the building going on over the road.
Basically for those of us in #6 (A&B), our view will be across the orchards to the mountains-uninterrupted (for now). For 5B, your immediate view will be of the little house across the road, but 5A will be higher than this so you will be able to see beyond to the orchards and mountains. For everyone else, I’m sorry to say that you will have the new building directly opposite you. I’m not sure if you were told about this when you put down your deposit –we weren’t!
I had another look in the show home @ LM1 and it was pretty impressive, but because the show home is there, LM1 is not yet fully populated so no community charge can be set (was looking to this as a guide for LMIII charge)
We ate a couple of times in the YoYo restaurant, and the food was excellent and very reasonable. Once we drove through Daya Vieja to Guadamar, and the blurb is true, it really does only take about 15 minutes to get to the (superb) beach.
In the week we covered about 800 kms and found it really easy to get around, the road system is superb. We went down to Los Alcazares on the Mar Menor on the toll motorway (12EUR there and back), and because of the tolls we had the motorway largely to ourselves.
We saw our solicitor who was very informative and took us to the local police station (in Torrevieja) where we applied for our NIEs. We queued for about 45 mins, so this was a relatively painless process, and by now the NIEs should have been collected by the solicitor.
We also got to use my new Spanish Cashpoint card both to draw cash and to pay for things in shops but unlike here it seems that you can’t use ANY ATM, only the one from your Bank…...or at least that’s what we found (was so scared of the machine eating my card that I didn’t push it …)
Before I left I bought a Spanish Vodaphone Sim card for my phone, and after a few false starts this worked fine. I signed up for a plan called Mi Pais (My country) which gets me calls to the UK for between EUR0.21 and EUR 0.40 per minute....much better than the £0.95 per minute using my UK mobile.
OK have run out of time. Will come back later with more narrative and a few more pics.

To continue….
So having seen the Building Site in DN, looked again at the show apartment, met with the solicitor and applied for our NIEs, our thoughts turned, naturally to furniture…..
You have all probably been told about the various companies that will provide you will a furniture pack based on how much you want to spend, and these are great and reasonably straightforward, but for us, part of the fun of this whole thing is to furnish our apartment exactly as we want to. This will probably be more complex and costly, but we thought we would take a look at what’s on offer, costs, delivery times etc.
So off to Almoradi, Town of Furniture…(and only 4km from DN)
To get to the furniture shops you have to drive through Almoradi town centre. A is a nice little town with a smattering of shops and an absolutely lovely town square with a very striking church at the centre.
On a road out of Amoradi there are numerous HUGE furniture shops, and we spent the morning going around these, but couldn’t really find anything reasonable that didn’t cost an arm and a leg! (not that we were buying at this stage anyway). So we decided to drive back to DN and get some lunch at the YoYo.
Midway between Almoradi & DN there is a roundabout which has a huge bathroom shop, FAJOVI (or something like that) we stopped off to look in there (remember, we have to buy our own shower cubicles!)
On that roundabout we also found a great furniture shop which had many things that we liked-not cheap (the dining room suite that my wife would like is EUR1700), but at last we found stuff that we could visualise in our apartment. Most of the furniture takes 6 weeks to be delivered, so ideally one would have to get to the store a few weeks before completion so that it could be delivered when the apartments become ours. There are one or 2 other alternatives but too long to go into here…
Coming out of there, we walked next door into a vast lighting shop (again, remember we have to supply our own lights!) where the choice was phenomenal all styles and prices…We never got to speak to anyone, but the accepted wisdom is that you choose your lights and the store delivers and installs them for you.
So on one insignificant roundabout, we found the places where, all things being equal, we will equip our apartment. (although on the way back to the airport I did see a Discount Furniture warehouse which I’d like to check out…..if I can convince the missus!)
In terms of free time we went to Guadamar twice, once to the beachfront and once to the harbour, both were very nice places to sit and enjoy the sun. And as I mentioned before, we went a bit further afield to los Alcazares on the Mar Manor, which took us about forty minutes. This was an absolutely beautiful unspoiled seaside town –we will definitely go back there next time.

Hi John,
Looking forward to next instalment of your Daya Nueva diary. At least I hope there's more... also any more photos. It was interesting to read of your experience with the Almoradi furniture stores, and also the time it takes to deliver. We like you probably were under the impression that delivery was quicker than that.
The time grows shorter for us now as the completion date for Phase II grows nearer. We've been looking at Ikea, where at least you can collect flat packs on the day. There is an Ikea in Murcia, but we'll also check out the local competition, when we get there.

Hi Howard et al
Just to be clear on the remaining photos…there are only so many angles that you can photograph a building site from, right? So don’t expect anything much different from what I have already uploaded.
That said, I also have a couple from DN that are NOT LM, i.e. the church and Yo Yos and a few from Guadamar if anyone is interested. Also there is one of an apt in LM1 which is the equivalent of where my one is in LM3.(so I can show my friends the before and after view )
I’ll upload some more photos at the weekend when I get home ( I’m typing this from my office in Zurich in my lunch break)
As for the “diary”, I think I’m pretty much finished, but I’ll just give a few impressions of LM1 & 2.
LM1 now has people living there. Overall the build quality & finish looks pretty good, but I did notice that the rooftop swimming pool wasn’t open yet (the gates to it were locked but I went for a bit of a climb and saw that the tiling around the pool wasn’t 100% yet and the pool was only half-filled.) On the plus side it does look as if it will be great when it’s finished.
LM2 looks to my untrained eye to be structurally there or thereabouts. The outsides still need rendering & painting and clearly the insides will be some way from finished.
One last topic. We found (as usual in Siesta time so never got to speak to them) a place called Daya Home Services, and they, as the name suggests appear to do pretty much everything to help you with your new home. They can provide and fit furniture, lighting, shower cubicles, Security grilles etc and be a keyholder for you (see yesterday’s post about Furniture Delivery-this could be the answer), and help with cleaning etc if you rent out your apartment. They have a website, but I’ve saved the url on my PC at home so don’t have it with me…suggest that you Google it.
OK, I think I have probably spent as much time writing about my trip as actually taking it, so I’m gonna sign off now. Hope I haven’t bored you too much with my ramblings.
Pls look again after the weekend for a few more photos…

Thanks a lot for the photos. It has certainly changed since I was there in February. I'm going at the end of May and can't wait to see it.
I thought about going to IKEA in Murcia- only half an hour up the motorway to buy some furniture. As you say it is the delivery. Might try and order online!

Hello there,
a very quick note to say 'hello' to everyone who has left messages/info on the site. We are Debbie and Nick and have bought apartment 5B of Lunamar III (back in February). Our completion date was listed as January 2008 (end) but it was suggested to us that the builder may run over slighty (approx 6 weeks) which didn't faze us too much.
We are aware of the new building on the opposite side of the road as the foundations were in at the time of us being there.
One thing that is bothering us is the discussion about taking down the back patio wall. This was something that we felt strongly about, especially after viewing the ground floow show apartment in Lunamar 1 (since the wall completely obscures any view from the back - a shame considering the beautiful view behind Lunamar III). Anyway, we spoke with one of the girls at Golf Invest who basically said that, if all the owners (i.e. the Community) come to an agreement ,that the BACK walls can be lowered, with the adddition of half railings, and that this should be straightforward.
We have friends visiting the area over the next 2 weeks who are taking photos for us and we will be more than happy to post them if interested.
Look forward to reading about any further news as and when anyone gets any
Debbie and Nick

Hi LM III owners
I have sent the mail to Golf Invest, copying you all, asking for them to investigate the possibility of changing the back wall of the patio to a combination of wall & railings. Let's see what they say.
Meanwhile if there are any other LM III owners out there who haven't made themselves known to us yet, can you please Mail me through this site URGENTLY- we would like very much for you to have your say on what our little group is attempting to do (and we would like you to join our informal "owners club" anyway)
Regards
John

fase 5 is opposite the site office on the same side as the finka. The finka is right behind our apartment.I said earlier it was a bungalow but it is an apartment.I got a bit confused. We are on the same side as fase 3 I think.Fase 3 should be ready september according to the plans. I will try and upload some pics.
