Boiler

Hi,

We recently had to replace our boiler.  It started leaking last week and when we took the cover off the bottom we found that the metal had corroded.  I was a bit surprised given that it is only 5 years old and had only been in use full time for the last year and a half (Not an expert with boilers - is this normal??).  Has anyone else had this problem with theirs?

No problems so far but I have noticed ours is running very very hot

 My bolier used in my house failed after about 4/5 years of use, used about 20 weeks per year. This is not unusual as the tank are steel and in the UK they are copper.

I heard of one boiler in DV that split open causing a signifiant flood.  That was a about 3.5 years ago.  Newish but out of warranty. 

Something to keep an eye on.  I wonder if any preventative maintenance or means of operation might prolong the life of the device?

Also I wonder if we all should be routinely turning of the supply when the leaving the property empty?  Otherwise we risk flooding now only our own apartments but those below.
