Hi

i am an owner on Condado, my sister came out last October and rented an apartment on Naranjos 8. She had a brilliant time and planned to come back at Easter. However she is still awaiting the return of her deposit from the owner. She has spoken to the keyholder, who was very helpful and tried to contact the owner on her behalf, to no avail. My sister has sent numerous emails, and tried calling, but the phone is not working.

She recieved an email before christmas from the owner, first one since october, advising her that they had moved and were sorting their bank account out and would refund the money, to date she has not receieved a thing.

She obtained the apartment details via holiday letting, she has been on to them, who have said they are unable to help but would email the owner for her, the listing has now been removed.

I just wondered if anyone had any ideas on how she could go about getting her deposit back? She has been put off booking to come out again, and people like this will give reputable renters a bad name! She ineffectively has paid £300 for a week, as she pointed out she coudlve rented a villa for that, it has put a bit of a black cloud over her holiday and her returning.

She cant remember the number of the apartment, but its on Naranjos 8 directly below Mel.

Hi Michelle

I am sorry that your sister has not had her deposit back

We rent out our apartment & offer good discounted prices for  family & friends of owners & in these cases do not request a deposit

I am surprised that Holliday Lettings can not help. We also use a rental company & they have the deposit from the client & only return that once the apartment has been checked by our property manager.

It would be an awful shame if your sister did not return to Condado in the future.

We have a two bed in Jardin 5 & would happily offer a good priced holiday should she be interested.

Best wishes to your sister. My only advice is to go to somewhere like Citizens Advice. Maybe they can put her in the right direction.

Thanks jan for your reply, she has a bit of legal advice thanks to a private message I've received so she is going to send another email to mr Rae asking for her money back - fingers crossed he will respond

Did they pay by credit card, if they did they can more than likely turn to the credit card company under section 74 of the consumer credit act for a refund of this money.

Why use a rental company when you're on EOS. State what you want when you want it and I'm sure your will email inbox will be full in no timeat all. Also, dealing direct with the owners would be the safest way by far in my opinion.

Good luck getting your money back. You could always name and shame on EYO which may help others in the future.
