Guys does anyone know of any shops open between 10:00pm and 11:00pm on a Friday night along the road to Condado from Murcia airport where one could get milk, bread and a packet of crisps or similar to keep the kids happy. I've done the journey many times but can't recall ever passing anything open. Is there a petrol/service station somewhere along the way? Thanks

There is a late night petrol station just after you get off the Ap7 on the road to Mar Menor golf resort 2. It is just before the old Polaris World garden centre. We stopped there last year for the same items They also do a few frozen items too.

Polaris Estación de Servicios
Calle del Mar Adriático, 36
30710 Alcázares (los)
Murcia, Spain

I think he means the Shell garage on the F30 towards Polaris Mar Menor Golf, off at junction 790 from Murcia Airport towards Torre Pacheco take 1st exit, continue along this road and the garage is on the left about a mile up before you reach Mar menor Golf roundabout.
I put the address you have into google maps and it takes you to a housing estate in Los Alcazares lol

And now you know exactly why I need co-ordinates Chaddy!
My Google Maps states this as being the nearest petrol station of the Ap7 but I'll take your for word for it that I'm wrong as it wouldn't be the first time I got lost driving in Murcia and certainly wouldn't be the last.
I can just hear the hear the grief I'm gonna get in the back of the neck from the family when all I'll be wanting is a few beers in The Clover - I can assure you I have no plans for a cup of tea and a piece of toast when we arrive again.
Thanks
Gabe

Thanks guys
I just this minute found it on Street View and as sr123 stated it is indeed right next door to the Polaris garden Centre and the sign says open 24 hours.
So as long as they sell milk and crisps, the family will be happy and off my case and I'll be happily seated at the bar before closing time...............
Happy Days!!

Gabe ya pushing it now but here goes!! LOL
Out of the Shell garage turn left towards Mar Menor you come to a roundabout!
Take the 2nd exit with Mar Menor on your right and the Hotel on your left up to next roundabout!
Take the 2nd exit which is the RM 313 I think but deffo 2nd exit, the Mar Menor houses are still on your right!
Continue on this road under 2 bridges, dont turn off until next roundabout, altogether about 8km.
Take the 2nd exit towards El Jimenado RM-F14!
Continue along this road through the little town of El Jimenado, its tiny so dont worry, until you come to the big roundabout with the chicken factory on it then straight across onto RM2.
I take this way most of the time and its shorter distance and probably same time as the motorway but late at night there will be no tractors in your way if you take this way, 30km or 40km using all motorway!!
NOW!!!! The question is??? dare you take this route??? LOL

Top Man Chaddy
I have to say I'm inmpressed as I just checked on Google Maps and you were spot on.
Personally I've always brought the satnav with me and for whatever reason it directs me via Mazarron on the AP7 and then north on the RM3 so hence I was thinking the other route might be a nightmare. Now that I've looked up your directions it does indeed seem pretty straightforward and OK.
Thanks again for the advice folks.
You too sr1213
Gabe

Gabe we go this route everytime from San Javier. Very straight forward and takes about 45 minutes. Chaddy's directions spot on. It is also sign posted A30 through to chicken factory roundabout then you need to make sure you pick up the RM2 to Alhama de Murcia. Then junction 4 signposted Mazarron RM23

Gabe - Its probably a bit late now but below are the step by step from MJV if you want it on a single sheet as given to recent guest i had staying
DIRECTIONS TO CONDADO FROM SAN JAVIER AIRPORT
Leave airport and follow signs for AP7 Cartagena - drive straight ahead over the 1st roundabout as you leave San Javier.
Join AP7 at slip road signposted for AP7 Cartagena (blue and white sign) and travel on AP7 for a short distance (to exit number 790)
Leave AP7 at exit 790 signposted Torre Pacheco
keep following signs for Torre Pacheco - you will pass the SHELL GARAGE and Polaris World Garden Centre on your left
Shortly after PW Garden Centre, you will come to a roundabout - go straight on (F30 Torre Pacheco)
You will immediately see the Mar Menor Golf Resort on the right and a red hotel with white dots on (Barcelona Torre Pacheco) on left.
At the next roundabout, take the A30 turning, signposted for Murcia/Cartagena.
Continue on the A30 and at the next roundabout take the second right turn. (Note - the first sign on the approach to the roundabout says A30 Murcia/Cartagena but the sign at the turn off just says El Jimenado - don't panic, this is the right road)
Follow the main A30 road through the village of El Jimenado.
Shortly after you leave the village, you will see a tractor garage on the left and a tall white building on the right with a red and blue stripe and a chicken on the top – this is known by everyone as the “Chicken Factory”
Directly after the “chicken factory”, you will reach a major roundabout.
Take the second exit, signposted RM2/A7 Alhama de Murcia and Andalucía.
Travel on the RM2 for approximately 30 km
Look out for the sign RM23 Mazarron/MU603 El Palmar - take this exit.
Go right round the roundabout to the last exit (3rd exit) which is sign posted RM23-Mazarron.
Take 2nd exit off RM23 up the slip road signposted for Condado de Alhama.
Rgds

If you're heading out of Murcia airport just before 10pm you may be able to catch the Mercadona supermarket that's only 2 mins away still open as they open til 10pm during the Summer. If you don't know which one I mean when comng out of the airport go over the 1st roundabout and at the next roundabout (where the A7) is take the 1st right signposted 'San Javier' and after exactly 1km turn left at a large roundabout and go into the Mercadona car park. I doubt they'll finish dead on 10pm as you know how things are in Spain and only a quick detour.

Thanks underpar, yes I know about the Mercadona one just down the road but the flight doesn't get in until 9:40 and by the time I pick up the hired car etc we would never make it on time so I was just looking somewhere else open along the way. All sorted now but thanks again. Gabe
