So after three years in the making and all the promises from MLH it turns out that we will have to pay for these tropical gardens this being the case we should plan them properly, if only we could get it looking like the little complex at the rear and on the right of CDS they started that site a lot later than CDS but the pool area is fantastic next time your out go have a look.

You never really believed the sales brochure - surely not - they were only joking and never intended for it to go in the contract - did they?

The lawyers warned you - didn't they?        The surveyors warned you - didn't they?       The snaggers warned you - didn't they? The builder warned you - didn't he?      The other buyers warned you - didn't they?       Finally you saw for yourself - didn't you?

This site was never a verdant valley,  just scrub land needing expertise and heavy expenditure to make a garden of it  - wasn't it?

Anyway do you really need a tropical garden as a guard dog exercise area - because you have got no security - have you?

Grit your teeth, pay up endlessly, is the order of the day - isn't it?

Regarding the gardens...At the moment they look muddy, uninteresting and it looks as if they haven't been covered with enough topsoil. I think  they should have been turfed rather than scattered with grass seeds as these have been washed away with the bad weather.  Whatever MLH do to it now, it is unlikely that they have the intention or the imagination to get it right. What I think might be a better plan would be for all the owners to contribute a sum into a 'garden slush fund' which can then be used to re-landscape it and plant it so that it looks attractive both to ourselves and to prospective renters.   I can understand if people are reluctant to put in more money when it should be MLH's problem to sort  it but at least it would be in our hands and we would definitely recoup the money and more in rental terms. We definitely need the place looking as good as the neighbouring complexes if we are going to attract rentals. There are 525 apartments on this complex. If everyone were to put in say 200 euros, that would amount to over 100,000 euros which would go a long way towards putting it right. After all, it's all in our interests. If asked I'm sure everyone wouldn't mind spending this amount to have the place looking good.  Any comments?

I agree, to an extent there is no point in wasting time and energy chasing Interlaken or whoever for an improvement to the gardens and it might be smarter to look to establish a programme which fixes the issue if the budget is acceptable. I think we need to have someone on the management team who has a knowledge of these matters. This is also one of those areas where having different groups of owners responsible for different areas is going to have the potential for problems. How much is spent on the different areas etc. Nevertheless this is the most important differential between our development and many others and we should spend some money enhancing it.

One final point however before embarking on this would be to find out Ammex's view. I am sure I read somewhere that they are in dispute with Interlaken re the state of the gardens and we should get their opinion on timescale to get a solution beneficial to the owners if they think this will be forthcoming. This might be a point worth raising at the forthcoming AGMs.

I think a possibilty for the owners to look at once the committees are formed would artificial grass as this looks superb has no on goning maintenance costs and would save the community money as the watering system which costs a fortune would not be required and instantly the development would look attractive
