Hi all, thinking of buying a townhouse in this new development Marina de la Alcaidesa, just do not know enough about the area. We only had a brief time there and the weather was not good then. Are the beaches as good as the photos show ? Are they blue flag beaches ? Is it a good place for family holidays ? I would appreciate any help/advice. It looks great on paper but anyone with first hand experience would be a great help.
Thank you

Hi SP
We purchased an apartment there a couple of years ago in phase one. The apartments have sold quite quickly but the town houses where much slower. Not sure if you are talking about townhouses in the next phase.
We like Alcaidesa because it is off the road unlike most of the coast. It is also close to other upmarket areas and if it does continue to develop it should end up in a similar vein. Rental potential to Gibralter is also attractive.

Hi SP,
we reserved an apartment 2 years ago which should complete Nov 07, after being told Jan 07 then June 07, but then this is Spain!
We have friends that live in various towns along the cost and some that have rented in Alcaidesa. They found it a lovely place to live away from the hoards of tourists but very accessible to the usual popular resorts on the Costa de Sol. Its only 1 hr from Malaga airport and 15 mins from Gib. We have been over 4 times since purchasing our apartment and usually stay in Duquesa which is a lovely port about 20 mins away. There are lots a smaller towns/ ports down that side of the cost and you can even go around to Tarifa where all the windsurfing talks place.
You will find the weather a little breezy due the wind coming in from the Atlantic through the strait of Gib, but this can be nice in the height of summer. Ros y Falcon are also building a beach club for the use of residents. As i understand they are Blue Flag beaches along that stretch.
If you go to the Ros y Falcon site office speak to Andres Chirinos de Pablos he is very helpful and speaks fluent english.
See my pics of development on the Shared photos section of this site.
hope this is of some use, best of luck
Andrew

Hi SP
Been away looking for property in Normandy! I do not know why the town houses in phase one did not sell. They were very expensive - if I remember they were semi detached villas. The prices were very high.
We purchased a first floor apartment and the views look good for E335,000.
