Lock Changing upon completion

Hi does anyone have any view on whether it is necessary to change the lock on your front door upon completion?

It isn't something I'd normally think of doing but a few people have mentioned it, whilst others think it wouldn't be something that is necessary.

I wouldn't bother. The site is pretty secure, really!

We changed ours but only because it was a bank repossession from a previous private owner and there were missing keys.  It's not cheap as they are hefty locks so I wouldn't do it if there has never been and occupant.  The security is excellent on the site.

Hi,

If you have bought a new apartment from Polaris you should receive 5 keys, 1 master key & 4 other ones.

If you need more keys you can get them cut from your master key at a ferreteria.

The recently completed skeleton blocks do have euro cylinders which are easily changed without removing the facing on the doors.  But as Zooropey says the older blocks have different locks which necessitates the whole lock being changed and therefore the door facing veneers being removed to gain access. If anybody is prepared to do that for 20 euros I would snap their hand off!

The block is just completed so I would assume that means it'll have the lock design which is easier to change out.

Our key holder has given us an indicative price which was significantly more than the 20 euros mentioned by RichA4.

However I guess this must be based on the lock design that is more complicated to change over.

if yours are the same as other phase 2 doors then this is all as you need,  not a new lock just a cylinder with the correct offset.
