apparently it can take up to six months and a lot of phone calls to get,
your deposits back.
after waiting 4 years and having invested a lot of money in this developement,
i have no intention of walking away ,these properties have almost doubled in value,
all you will be doing is putting more money in aifo s bank account.
this planning hold up is nothing unusual in spain ,it will get resolved, eventually.
as for me i m sitting tight.

I think that getting your money back would be more difficult than getting Aifos to actually build a property! For me, the only sensible solution is to wait until completion, whenever that will be. This has turned into a logistical disaster for myself and the missus and when I think about my naivety in actually believing that Aifos would meet their commitment regarding the original completion date, I almost blush. We have now bought another house in Scotland which should be completed next month as we had sold our main family house at the end of 2004 as my wife and I had intended moving to Spain and giving up having a place in Scotland. Not long after selling we received word that the completion date was delayed until 2006 -bad enough- and now if we are to believe them it is to be 2008. We then bought our son's flat (we were renting) as he was moving to a bigger house and within a year it went from nice to hellish! We have a drug dealer as a next door neighbour and an assortment of other nutters in the locale! However, I have never sold a property as quick in my life; one phone call and a visit from the surveyor and hey presto, 60% increase in value in 15 months! We've bought the new house because my youngest son (college) and daughter (uni) come home every weekend (no, we won't be coming home at all, only during holidays!) and stay with relatives and we felt that they should be with us. I often think of our lovely four bed detached in a nice quiet local area with great neighbours and ne'er a hooligan or druggie in sight and I just wonder, how the heck did we get to here! I actually drive past periodically to check how the maples that I planted are doing as they took time adjusting to our weather; how sad is that! So, would I try to get my money back from Aifos? No way José! We are going to live in that apartment and hopefully all of the last few years trials and tribulations will fade into obscurity. As for 2008 completion. I don't see it to be honest but one thing that I have developed over the last four years is more resiliance to setback. I sometimes feel that we are collectively in a staring match with Aifos; who is going to blink first, us, by demanding our money back, or Aifos, by actually completing El Cortijo?
