Transfering car from UK to Spain How to do it

Hi Folks,

Seen a LHD car we wish to purchase but its french registared, hasnt been registered in th UK. We are planning on driving it stright from the garage to Spain so it will be on UK roads for no longer than 6 hours. How do we go about doing this legally without having to get the DVLA involved?

Any help would be appriciated.

Ask the garage in UK if they can give you temp plates to bring to Spain. You will need to have it regd in Spain quickly so make sure documents in place for yourselves first. Check lights OK for Spain 

I don't know that you can do it legally!  I am not an expert!  i would email the details of the car to a gestor, here is the email of one we use in Mazarron, administracion@gestoriamazarron.es

I assume the car has French head lights still, suitable for driving on the continent, so that's one less expense.  The gestor above have an English speaker so you can email in English.

I don't know how/ if you can get insurance for French reg car in UK...I assume must be okay.  But when reregistered onto Spanish plates I think that policy will have to be cancelled and a new policy issued.

what about getting it transported over, approx €595, transport direct to garage or your apartment here.  I would recommend transporting direct to Decklid in the Port, email decklid@hotmail.co.uk then he can sort ITV and transfer for you, hope this helps,

given info re temp tourist plates when looking to import German registered vehicle . It covers you to bring vehicle into another country but only valid short term .  If vehicle in UK just put UK plates on, to drive over , then change 

Hi Folks,

Have been on the phone all morning to DVLA and insurance companies. As the car has not been registered in the UK we can drive it straight to Spain, all we need is insurance which again is no problem as long as we give them the VIN number of the car and it has a CoC certificate. Dont need to use gestor found a website which details exactly what you need to do step by step and paperwork you will need to produce when registering.

Just need to find safe place to park it when not in Spain.
