Hi all, does anyone know if the new clubhouse has been in it's current state for a long time? Are the owners just telling evryone that it will be finished "oin one year" to help get sales of plots? I have been reading some golf course reviews and a number of people comment that he clubhouse has not moved on any further for years! I am keen to know if they have real intention to begin finishing it.

Have just got back form La Finca. 24/01/06

Club house is still on schedule to be finished October 2007, although November was also mentioned. Fingers crossed, its going to look pretty impressive.

Hotel also seem to be comming along but the feeling was that this would be finished after the clubhouse.

Commercial area still seems to be pretty slow in occupation, 3 banks, bar, restaurant, Johnsons SUpermarket (not open yet).  I spoke to the key holder of the property we were staying in, he plans to open an electrical store there around Easter, statalite air con etc. Also his girlfriend would be offering a cleaning keyholding service.

Golf course was very busy, but I must say the urbanisation on a whole seemed pretty desserted!

Our apartment is located on R6, the apartments are nearly all complete except for final fittings and cleaning. Outside is another matter. WOrk has yet to start on any of the communal areas, swimming pool, parking etc. There didnt seem to be a date for this to be completed. But again we spoke to a resident who told us that the communal area was not finished for 2 or 3 months after the apartment.

All in all its still looking fantastic, and the good news that a Euro Disney will be opening on the Costa Del Sol can only help.

The clubhouse has had a lick of paint !

There was some sort of event there last weekend (in the rain) which the sponsors had a marque etc infront of the clubhouse. The course looked in fantastic condition.

Also someone drove a golf buggy into the water hazard on the sixth! It' surprising how deep the water is.

I will be flying out to La Finca in mid June and will enquire as to the progress of both new clubhouse and hotel. I had some golfing guests stay at my apartment recently who commented that the course was in fairly poor condition. They played at La Marquesa, Roda and one or two others and stated that La Finca was in the worst condition of all of the courses they played at. Apparently, they had a chat with the guy who owns 'La Cascada' bar on the commercial centre who said that all the developers money was tied into finishing the hotel and that the course was being neglected as a result!

This is a worrying fact, if true which I will try and substantiate / refute on my next visit.

regards

Richard

Unfortunatly Richard I dont think your the only person to hear this.

Still see people advertising their properties as, 'La Finca to hold Spanish Open 2008' and possibility of Ryder Cup, really have to laugh at these claims.

At the moment I cant believe they would hold any  tournament for at least a couple of years, and my feeling is more like 5 years at a minimum for anything resembling a major.

Very sad as the course (when in good condition) is fabulous, and the facillities will be great (fingers crossed).

Commercial/Retail centre disapointing in the speed units are being taken.

Will probably be out there in mid May, will see what I can find out also

I can only assume that the actual cost / rent has had a bearing on the slow take up of Commercial Units. I noticed in March that there were several units with Se Alquila on them which I imagine means they've been purchased by developers with an eye to renting out to cover their outlay.

Bearing in mind that all you are buying / renting is a 'shell' that needs retro fitting afterwards and I can sort of understand why so many are empty. I was told - unofficially - that the smallest upper floor units start at 300k (euros). Factor in the cost of fitting out and that's a considerable outlay for a unit on a development that's not even finished yet! That said, there is a year round market due to residents and golfing renters.

I don't wish to be a doomlord - on the contrary. I hope every unit gets taken up by bars, cafes, restaurants, shops etc., as this will be invaluable for us as owners / renters. Just can't see it happening in the next year ot two to be honest.

Totally agree with you Tintin regarding advertising as 'future ryder cup venue' etc. Where do these people get their info from??????
