Any colds in Spain?

Hi All,

as a golfer I am intterested to see that the layout of the 2nd pase has been substantially changed from the original proposals. The area where the apartment blocks protrude out into the golf course will make this area feel very confined and will put the apartment blocks into play for anyone with a 'slice' or a 'hook' (I think we will all have to carry indemity insurance as required by the Spanish Golf Union). The standard of the golf course will be important for anyone wishing to rent at TH as this will attract golfing parties.  However with the number of good quality golf courses being built nearer the coast it is even more important that the TH golf course layout is built to a high standard. All the advertising litrature states that Manuel Pinero is the course designer and that the greens will be built to USGA specifications which is now the 'norm' for new golf courses - does anyone know whether this is still correct? Does anyone know if there is a final design for the golf course with an indication on the course hole layout and yardage?

I am writing from a wet June in Sotland looking at the webcam from TH anticipating playing 'golf in the sun" at some date in the future!!!!

Hi gm,

I don't think anyone can answer your questions right now. It's a case of wait and see what develops. The promoters will, I have little doubt, change the lay out of the course many times, before a definite design is decided upon. It will be a case of adapting the course around the homes and not the other way around.

I too express my concern on this topic, but there is little or nothing that we can do at this point.

I also hope that the course is designed and constructed to a high spec.

just back from a day's golf on a 'quality' golf course near Edinburgh (weather superb). Tend to agree with what you say regarding the golf course not being finalised but I thought the first nine hole design might have been finalised as it would be part of the present planning application. Will Manuel Pinero put his name to a golf course that is not of a high specification? Interestingly enough when we put our deposit down the name of Dave Thomas was mentioned for the course design. I think my main concern is that the course design is not to a high specification and this results in not many 'members' paying annual playing fees resulting in a deteriation in the 'condition' of the golf course due to a lack of income.

This may be a topic for further discussion at a later date.

We're probably preempting things at the moment. Lets get the development up and running first.

Never heard Dave Thomas (Belfry) mentioned, although he and his son are busy designing in Murcia. Pinero, was and I believe still is, 'THE MAN'
