Hi Everybody,

Just like to introduce ourselves - we're Derek and Maud and we just completed on apartment 137 in the Birdie Club this week. We're a Scottish/Swedish couple who live in Glasgow with our children William (8) and Katarina (6).

We were out for a visit in the end of June and were absolutely delighted with the apartment and how lovely the BC looked. It is amazing how quickly it's gone from concrete shell to ready to move into. We can't wait to go out again next week for our first holiday in the apartment and we would love to meet some of our new neighbours!

If anyone is looking for help managing things we can warmly recommend Elaine and Alan Brown (see www.lainesbrown.com) as they've been amazing, helping us with everything from taking pictures, booking hotels, sourcing furniture to being there at the completion.

Also, we would very much like to be there when the community fees are discussed so please let us know if you know anything about these.

Looking forward to many lovely holidays in Alcaidesa.

All the best,

Maud

Hello Maud and Derek

We are ready to head out 20th of August to complete our apartment number 114. We are Jim and Brenda Barron. It sounds like you're all organised. I have been in touch with Elaine also for advise on furniture packages etc but think we have to wait until we get the keys. Our solicitor told us that even when we do complete that it would take another two weeks before the electricity would be connected which again we would have to be there to sign for. Can you please tell me if that was the case with yourselves because as far as I know that would be another trip over for us from Northern Ireland or according to the solicitor they can sign but we will have even more costs then to pay them. I would be grateful if you could let me know about that and anything else that we will still have ahead before we get to the lovely stage you seem to be at.

Congratulations and hope to meet you in Alcaidesa soon as neighbours

Best wishes

Jim and Brenda

Hi Jim and Brenda,

My husband and I moved into our apartment 4 weeks ago and we have had electricity the entire time.  This was arranged by our solicitor, in conjunction with the developer and the electricity board and we did not pay any extra fees.   Water was more of a problem, this took several days so you should be aware of that - again our solicitor arranged this for us and we were told you cannot actually have the water switched on until you have completed because they require the deeds of the property.  The deeds have to be in your name (rather than the developer's) and, in our case, the solicitor holds the deeds which meant the only way to get the water switched on was through the solicitor which takes a few days once you have completed on the property - but again there were no extra fees.  I guess it might be that we paid up front for these things without realising it.

Also, you may already know this, but there are no light fittings other than in the bathrooms so it is not possible to just stick up lightbulbs.  Literally, there are just wires hanging out of the ceiling.  Apparently this is normal for new builds in Spain.

Other than that, we've also been extremely pleased with our new apartment, everything works and the finish is very impressive.

Hope this helps.

Sally

Hi All,

We'll visit in Alcaidesa at the beginning of September for closing our appartment . It would be nice to meet you!
Have you any tips for the installation of the air conditioning? We have undersood that it has to be ordered separately?

Hi,

Julia and i (apartment t123) will be in Alcaidesa for the closing of the contract in the first week of September also and hopefully stay long enough to get the various services connected. The air conditioning is part of the build and in the specification so not sure what you mean by connection - apart from the electricity.

Anyway if anyone is around and would like to have a drink let us know would love to meet you all.

Regards

Steve and Julia

Hi Steve and Julia

Thanks for your answer! We didn't understood that the air conditioning is fully fitted and we don't need to organize its installation.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for all the replies!

Derek and I are just back from our first holiday in Alcaidesa and we were very pleased with the apartment and the rest of the development.

Lights - yes, there are just wires hanging from the ceiling. We booked a furniture package a month or so before completion and the furniture store fitted all the lights for us. Beware the architects fault in the kitchen which is in all the flats. One of the fittings are right in front of one of the kitchen cupboards so the door will bang it to it.

Air con - it's there and it's very good and very quiet

Electricity - I think it will be on builder's account for another couple of weeks, it's still on anyway.

Water - Be aware that having water connected can take a while. We were pushing a lot through our lawyers and Alan & Elaine Brown. We did not have water on the evening when we arrived but it came on the next morning! There is obviously water in the changing rooms by the pool so we though we could always rely on them in case it didn't come on.

Anyway - exciting times! Good luck everyone and enjoy Alcaidesa

All the best,

Maud
