Looks like Helen & Kev have woken the forum up a bit, so thought we'd better join in! We met Helen & Kev at Las Abejeras at the end of April and we had a few drinks and shared our respective stories. We met up again at beginning of July when I was about to return to uk after one very hot week, and they were starting a two week stay. Like most we bought "off plan" back in 2003 and finally got the key in December 2005. We've been over together or seperately every 3/4 months since and Catherine stayed in the apartment from Jan 1st to late April this year. We've attended one of the residents meetings, held at the tennis club, and had quite a few conversations with Khalid Zahy who is El Presidente of the Communiidad, and lives in one of the penthouse apartments. As we understand it there are several legal actions being taken against the developer/contractor to get defects rectified and the project finished, but the process, as in the UK is painfully slow. Add to that, there is the issue over the 300 odd car parking spaces which sit empty underneath the final phase of the development. The developer was initially asking each resident to pay 15000 euros for one of these dedicated parking spaces, which really wound up the residents, who believed that parking was included in the deal. Subsequently the developer came back with a discounted offer, bringing the cost of a parking space down to around 12000 euros, but I gather there have been no takers! So financially that alone is quite a big issue to the developer, and is probably contributing toward the inactivity on his part. I'm not sure if a few non-Spanish residents could have any influence on events, but it may be worth a shot. One thing we should do as a starter perhaps is to push for meeting agenda's and minutes to be translated into English then at least we'd know what was going on. We could also get meetings with Khalid Zahy set up as he speaks good english. Catherine and I will be there again in October, but in the meantime we'd be interested to hear your thoughts, so keep posting.
