working part-time self employed

Hi all,

             from what I can make out the responsibility for the commissioning and ongoing maintenance of the lifts sits with the Community of Owners. As we are due to complete next week (last Phase - 7) can anyone throw any light on whether the CoO has been set up as yet or, if not, when should it be done.

Presumably, if this isn't for a while we'll all have to wait some time for lifts to be working ?

You are correct and they try to commission the lifts as late as possbile to avoid the cherges

The liftts have to carry their own insurance policy and be linked to an emergency response service, telephone etc, all of which costs PW money

When the communidad s in place it costs the owners money, simple ecomomics

We completed in early Jan, completed the forms for the utilities to be sorted and it has been a long process. Water connected, Electric meter done a few weeks ago and Polaris saying apartment got power. Will find out when over ar Easter. I have asked them to check, as when we were over we coulnt ger it to work. Are there any special switches to switch !!!!!??

Gas is another problem. Have rung Gas Natural today and they have received NO INFO from PW at all. No plot numb/bank details/ NIE info NOTHING!! So after much discussion I think I have set up account and everything should be sorted.

Anyone who filled in form for Polaris I think should contact Gas Natural directly. You may have the same problem as us.

Update to previous post today,

Just heard from keyholders. They have been in  today to check on our apartment and there is no electric!!  So, sent yet another email to Polaris. What are they playing at. !!  Booked to go over at Easter, so they better get it sorted

If your main switch(or all the individual circuit breakers) on the switchboard in the apartment is off then you wont have any power within.

So the electric may be ready you mey need to do your bit.

Has your keyholder confirmed this?

. I will get  my keyholder to check switchboard /breakers .Hadnt thought about that. So simple really. Will let you know when I hear.

Hope it is , it will be one less thing to gripe about.

Remember also...

When the utilities are connected, the Utility company simply connects the meter and supply to your property externally...they do not enter your property to do any checking or anything.

Advise that your main breaker is off if you are yet to be connected for electric...otherwise you may find like us that the cooker extractor was running for a week solid after connection before our keyholder found it and switched it off.!!!

Mostly you dont have a problem...as there is always one pair of loose wires hanging from the ceiling somewhere which are touching which immediately trips the breaker switch anyway.

We are having light fittings installed this Wed 12/03/08, so I have the electrians to check it out. Hopefully they will resolve my concerns. I have asked keyholder to check main board also.

Update for you on the NO GAS situation.

Well, Polaris emailed me today,after my 2 emails to them about the gas. They now say there is a problem.

They are now saying that did send my info to the gas firm, but tht gas firm said there was a problem with the mains gas pipe to the building, which in turn means we cant get connected. Polaris said the gas firm told them this on 25/1/08.

I have been in contact with Polaris many times in the past 3 months and this is the 1st time I have been told about this situation. I am not pleased. They have known about this for ages and not bothered to inform us.

I have emailed them yet again to see if they have contact the gas firm to chase up what is happening,because from the email just received from them, I think they have been siiting on it and nothing has been done

We completed on phase 5 on the 16th January and I have just noticed that our account has been debited with €63.19 for the gas. Not sure if that means it's connected though! Does the amount seem about right? Does anybody know how much each of the three things should cost roughly? We are due to go across again on the 21st March and while we are not expecting to stay in our appartment we hoped to get our furniture delivered while we were there. Is it ok to get furniture delivered and light fittings installed prior to the utilities being connected? Wasn't sure how this would work with no electricity.

Hope everything works out ok for everybody eventually with the utilities.

Our electric meter got connected at start of feb and Polaris say we should have power in apartment,although keyholder cant get any power. Think it may be mainswitch in board in apartment/ / loose wires in ceiling triping curcuit.

We are having lights fitted on wed by ilucom. they are going to check electric is OK.

Electric company took money out of bank at the end of Jan,think is was about 200 euro. Not sure about gas (as from previous posts we have got some issues ) Nothing gone from account yet.

We are out on 24th march, so looking forward to perhaps bumping into any HR Bloggers.

Would really like to be there when things are getting fitted like headboards a bathroom fittings and don't think the furniture company will want to make two trips just for the lights. People doing our lights said Ok to fit lights without Electric. They would come back if there was a problem,so should be Ok.

We are hoping they will have done the make shift bar for when we out,may see you in there!

Ilucom are excellent, probably the best service of all the suppliers we used on La Torre.

€65 sounds low for Gas connection, StuartG which block are you in? We're having problems with having both Gas & Electric being confirmed as connected, though Polaris have assured us there will be a generator there over Easter for us.
