Hi All, Update on our electric situation.
We had the light fitting done today.Everthing OK there. However, the Electrians could not test the lights as the electric not working, contary to what Polaris have told us in numerous emails.
They have said meter is connected,(connection fee has been taken from our bank account at the end of January ) No problem. But there is !! ( which I have told them on numerous occassions )
Our keyholder has been checking on a regular basis, not a flicker or sound from the cooker hood ! I have therefore telephoned them earlier today and sent an offical email of complaint tonight.
Keep you posted

HarrynHelen - thanks for putting my mind at rest about getting lights fitted with no electricity.
Mike - we are in Phase 5 Tomillo which looks out at the 1st green looking away from the rest ohe resort. Polaris World's most recent e-mail re my utilities - "I can confirm that the gas meter has been connected and you have a builders supply of water, which you will retain until your meter is connected" Has anybody else heard of this? Does this mean I need to buy a bucket and make friends with the builders in case I want to do some dishes or go to the toilet!?
Redray - The Easter shutdown is worrying me as we are getting furniture delivered on Saturday 22nd and Monday 24th. I did mention that it was Easter weekend when we made the arrangements so fingers crossed.
We are going out from 21st - 26th March but will probably stay at La Torre the whole time to save any hassle.

If anything, it's easier installing lights without the power on. We've just have the A/C for the bedrooms installed without power.....although the installers did come back ythe next day with their own portable generator to carry out the commissioning.
As far as I was concerned, it was also safer putting up pictures and mirrors without electricity, I knew I wasn't going to go zzzapp!!
Any miscalculations will become apparent soon enough!!
Builder's water is just like ordinary Spanish water, (to misquote Crocodile Dundee, "you can drink it, but it tastes like...") but it's free! At least you can use the loo!!!!!

Builders supply just means its free, you don't get charged for it I believe.
We received this e-mail today,
"The power lines were installed yesterday and the meter is already in place. It’s entirely possible that your electricity meter was connected, but we can’t confirm this until we receive the contract. Equally you have a provisional supply of gas, which means that it’s 99% sure, that your gas meter has been connected, but again, we haven’t received the contract, so we can’t confirm this. What I have done is request that the technician goes to commission your boiler. That way will we find out for definite whether all of the utilities are connected.
I will not automatically be informed when the boiler is commissioned. If you send me an e-mail on Monday, I will chase it up. Monday and Tuesday are normal working days here, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are national holidays"
What do we reckon? Gas & Electric by next Thursday when we go? It'll be a close call

All utilities connected but boiler not yet working properly. No constant hot water changes from hot to cold and back to hot in a matter of minutes. Only seems to happen when using shower .
Anyone with any ideas?.

Woods...you need to report it to PW call centre to be fixed. Its nothing you are doing....its a similar problem to what a number of folks on La Torre had,and some still have, with their boilers and/or flues. Neeeds PW and the Roca boiler folks to sort it. et your keyholder to keep nagging them until its fixed. Seems to be a common fault with these boilers on installation judging by the number on La Torre...and I suspect you are just the first of many to experience this particular one.
The boilers used are combi boilers which basically only heat water when you need it....so it takes a while to run hot anyway (seems strange for a country where water is in short supply that there is so much wasted before you can use it) and the water pressure is affected greatly by someone turning on another tap or flushing the loo. The problem at La Torre was that the water fluctuated hot then cold for a few seconds and then back to hot...the boiler didn't go off or anything...just the temperature changed. It is obviously more noticeable when showering, but I suggest that all hot supply is the same fluctation even from taps if you check carefully.
Roca and PW sorted ours by changing some part in the boiler. Some folks have had their flue changed also for this or a similar problem.
The main issue with problems of this type are that until you spend some length of time at your property you dont know you have a problem. You try the shower and it seems to work...run the taps, they work...tick the box...etc
