Hello all,
I've just registered on the forum, though have been reading Eye on Spain for a while now. We have been going to Pinares for about 4 years now and have always stayed at our friends apartment in Mirada 1. We initially signed up for a 2 bed in Block 2, but last year decided to defer and swap to a similar unit up in Block 6. Our friends are there regularly so tend to keep us pretty well informed about what's going on so we were aware of the road problem and impact on completion dates etc. One of the key lessons from their development is to form a strong residents group with a permanent resident being on the ground all the time to "encourage" the developer to maintain progress. There does seem to be a habit of not completing the landscaping so watch out for that!
We are allegedly due to complete from October/November this year, so it will be interesting to check on progress when we are out there at the end of May. I'll post some photos on the forum for those interested. I noticed mention of the La Cala marina in one of the other posts and apparently the compulsory purchase orders have been issued for the beachside properties that need to be demolished to make way for the marina - guess that's encouraging progess.
We would be very interested in swapping information and experience (lessons learned!) about the whole exercise, so we'll post some items for any like-minded people who we would be happy to get in contact with. A couple of things on my mind at the moment are the impact of the credit crunch on mortgage availability, and how valuations are holding up on the development as a factor in the funding choice. If anybody has any thoughts or useful contacts then please let me know.
Kind regards
Sally & Simon Rollason
