Just back from DV. What a great place to spend some free time, get out there it's a fantastic place to relax, play some golf, take in the surrounding area of white washed villages, tapas bars where you can watch the world slowly pass bye as you sample the the local fayre helped down with a small beer or local wine. The sun shines long into the evening. The more energetic take to the paddle courts or a walk through the local villages or onto the nature reserve. Admire the gardens and stroll around before retiring to the balcony for dinner. I almost forgot, the beach, take a stroll stopping off at a beach bar. On the way back, live on the edge and dip your toes in the water. Rose tinted glasses...No, the glass is almost full!!!!

Quite refreshing, Redcastle!!  Like you, my glass is always at least half full, never half empty!

Can't wait to get there!  The paddle courts may even see me this year!!

Let's not forget our five lovely swimming pools.

For the energetic there's a fair walk to the roman baths - which has some lovely orange trees near by for those who like there oranges tangy !

b.t.w.  Redcastle,   Where's the nature reserve, I missed that one.

Hi I agree with Jan, redcastle, very refreshing. While it's necessary to deal with the serious stuff  (and heaven knows how grateful we are to John Cox and others for getting involved - thanks for volunteering John) its great to be reminded of the reasons why we invested in DV.  Thank  you.

To anyone who has set the wheels in motion to buy, but are worried after reading the bloggs on this site,  read the start of this thread and relax.

When I first read Redcastle's post - I thought somone had left the top off the glue.

But then I realised he was talking about DV and the surrounding area and how right you are. We have had a house on the edge of Manilva for over 5 years and now an apartment in DV and despite the problems I have had with break-ins I am still bouyant about the place - it is a quality site and will improve with time as the building work gets finished off.

To wake up each day (a bonus itself as you get older) and see blue sky and feel the warmth of the sun and as darkness closes in to see the twinkling universe in the dark sky above is still something in nature to be treasured.

Anyway I have counted 6 pools, 2 lower, 2 middle (and a pond) and 2 at the top.

And where is the nature reserve? There are some off road roads away from the coast near DV where you can see all sorts of birds including the very colourful bee eater that I think flies across from Africa about April/May to spend the summer in CDS.

We just got back and despite a couple of days of heavy rain had a great time.  It's so peaceful and the village is looking great now.  They really seem to have cracked on with the building work and the site is quieter and cleaner.  We did a bit of walking this time (as much as you can do with a 4 year old and a toddler in a backpack!) and really enjoed taking rural tracks to Manilva etc for tapas.  Can't wait to get back!

It's good to read that it's still peaceful and quiet.

Does heavy rain still affect the small pool at the bottom or has that problem been fixed?

Also do you or does anyone have any up to date photos of the entrance and the new top pools?
If the builders have made good progress it would be interesting to see.

Paul

Paul,

I have just uploaded a picture of the pool area between blocks 17 -18 at the top of the development.

The pool behind block 16 seems to be taking an age to complete, don't understand why.

The issue with contamination of the pool at the bottom has been addressed on a temporary basis by the clever use of a plank of wood!!!!  we were assured at the AGM  that this problem was on the snagging list.

Paul,

All of the pools appeared to be holding up fine when we left.  I don't have any photos of the bottom pools or building work unfortunately - just of the middle pools and the countryside near DV.  Will look through and see if any are of interest to post.

Caroline

Hi Everyone

When we were over at the end of February they were working on the pool behind blocks 16/17 and seemed to be building the level up around the pool but there doesn't appear to be any steps leading into it!   Does anyone have any idea how the pool would be accessed?

Hi,

We are in block 17 and were told on purchasing that there would be a lovely foot-bridge going across the pool and steps from the back of block 17 upto the pool.  But now access seems to be through the gate off the main path.

Hi,

I too was told different information about the pool.  I was led to believe it would be flat with a grass area at the back of these blocks and I could walk out of my ground floor apt and along to the pool.  I know they were not even going to build it at one point as there was not enough room!  I suppose we should be grateful there is one there.  There were no signs of showers when we were there.

Hi All,

Just trying to clarify re the pools at the top of the site.

The picture that has been posted is the pool by block 18 I think and not the pool between 16 and 17. We have also bought in block 17, but have not heard anything re a possible bridge across to the pool from block 17 on any of our visits over the last yr or so.

We were told in February that the pool between block 16 & 17 would not be completed until Jul 08, when Block 16 is also due to be handed over (understand that block 16 will be one of, if not the last block to be completed on the site).

Think you're right, John - the picture is the pool between blocks 18 and 20.

The picture posted on March 17th ids of a pool on the left hand side of the development as you cone in (not sure of block numbers, sorry) (above your block Jan).  it was finished with showers that were still being connected by the look of things.  There were men hoovering the bottom of the pool (my son helped!) and it looked clean and ready to use.

PS The blocks by the entrance were all having their aluminium fitted when we were there.  hey were really coming on.  There are also new trees and plants along the middle of the entrance road and the road up to the village has had some patch up repairs (though it really needs doing properly!)
