Hi every one,

Last night we experienced one hell of a storm, torrential rain, thunder like you wouldnt believe and lightning that was absolutely incredible.I personally lost power at one stage for 20 minutes or so.For the resort It was probably the best thing that  could have happend, because as I stated before, there are lots of areas that the sprinklers do not reach, and the grass was looking poorly.

Today the wind was at pretty high strength,so I took the shuttle bus to La Torre,I was the only passenger going and the only one on the return journey, but I think once the Resort starts to fill up i'm sure the situation will alter,

I looked in on the bar/cafe on my way to catching the bus and and they were moving in what appeared  to be chiller units so it is getting there. It remains to be seen but I have concerns it might not be big enough,It looks like its primarely for having a drink after a round of golf, not for an evening pint. I hope i'm wrong.

Lots of garden activity going on today with lorry loads of potted plants being dropped off for the planters,Thats the main thing that I was aware of when I visited La Torre today.is the abundance of plantlife and foliage they have there,I know its had a couple of years to get established, but I do hope that Polaris treat Riquelme in the same manner.

In the UK most towns have a Pound Shop, well San Javier has something similar, not every thing is under a pound, but the goods are very cheap, and you will find all those
little things you cant find elsewhere, you will find it a couple of doors from DFS,it is Chinese run and well worth a visit

Bye for now Lennie
.

Hi Lennie,
we have just got back to the UK after a week kitting out our apartment. We witnessed the storm as well, wasn't it a beauty !
There was, as you say a lot of activity on the gardening side and I must say, on the day we left (yesterday) the amount of Polaris Garden vans driving around was very noticable.

I've no doubt that the plantlife and foliage they have at La Torre will be replicated at HRGR.

Paul.

Hi everyone

Len mentioned there is activity on the road leading from Sucina to Riquelme.   Wouldn't it be nice if our road ends up looking like the one that leads from the motorway to El Valle?   It will look stunning, but don't all jump up at once as this is only an observation on my part and not straight from 'Polaris' mouth.

There certainly is activity Linda. In the week that we were there they had made a lot of progress. It looks like they are constructing a road alongside the rough one that currently runs from HR to Sucina. If Spanish road construction is anything to go by I would imagine that this will be completed fairly quickly. As you say, it would be nice if it ends up looking like the one at El Valle.
There is also a road that has started being constructed from Parallega Golf towards Aveleses.

Paul.

There is also a completely new road being constructed alongside the current one which runs from in front of Peraleja GR past the side of HRGR to join the new one being constructed running alongside the current one to Sucina. There are plans to have new road alongside the current one that goes around the top of the resort to the new entrance too. So there wil be all new infrastructure very shortly. A lot of the tarmac'd roads that have been done over the last year were only 'temporary' and will be superceded by 'proper' ones.

Hi everyone,as I have to fly back to the UK tomorrow due to a family bereavement, this will be my last post for at least a week.

Tables and chairs were delivered to the Bar/Cafe today, another step nearer to the Ist of June opening day.

More plants dropped off for planting out .and lots of sprinkling on the course, the communial area grass was cut last week but needs cutting again.
Probably due to the ammount of rain that fell the night of the storm, and longer periods of sunshine.

Ive noticed there are still swimming pools not filled, cant say how many but there are one or two near my block,Atlantico 192.

For those of you who are on the last blocks to be finished over at Indico 75  you will be pleased to hear that the builders have
worked wonders this week,Your pool which was a shell last week is now completely tiled arround the walls.with just the flooring
to be finished,The turfs are being laid all arround the pool and all the crazy paved area is down, just requiring cementing in.There are at
least 30 guys working on the site and on Tuesday night they worked untill 10pm under flood lights.

The pool itself has to be the longest on the resort, and whereas all the pools have blue mosaic tiles this one appears to have a cream colour mosaic.

The last two days have been hot, cloudy at times, but with a fair ammount of sunshine. So I'm going back to Dear Old Blighty with a tan.

Bye for now  Lennie.

I think we should all give Lennie a round of applause for the stirling work in keeping us informed of everything going on in the resort.   We will all now have withdrawal symptoms Lennie until your safe return back to Spain.   We will miss your very helpful comments for the moment.   Pete and I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family at this sad time.

All the best

Linda

Sad to hear about your loss Lennie

Brian and I are going out on the 30th and hoped we might meet up and have a drink at the new clubhouse. Maybe next time, when you are back on and even keel.
I totally agree, we will miss your updates, but lets hope its not too long before your back in the sunshine.
Our thoughts are with you.

Pat & Brian.

Hi guys,

Thankyou for your condolencies,it was very upsetting for me to return to the UK for such a sad occasion.
I am hoping my sister will come and visit me soon and it will help in the coming to terms with my Brother In Laws Death.

I returned to HR late yesterday afternoon, and had that feel good factor as soon as I entered the Resort,

Today I found out that Three Pools are open on Phases 3 and 4 and the rest will be ready as soon as possible.
I am on Phase 5 and my pool is being turned over during the night and remains silent during the day.

The biggest change to greet me was the long and winding road off the Sucina to Mercia road leading to HR has been closed.
The access route, is now to take the road  out of Sucina that takes you to the Peraleja Golf Resort, and carry on past Peralega
until you pick up the run in stretch of road into HR.easy but obviously a longer drive.

The driving/practice range was opened today ,which is good news, but there are still very few people on the resort so only a handfull of
people were there.

I thought I had missed the Summer Bar B Q last Saturday but it was canceled due to imminent bad weather and will now be held on Saturday
evening  7th june,my commiserations to those who may now miss it if they are returning home.

I took a walk into the Hcienda grounds where it is to be held ,it is a very large area that has been leveld flat and shingled with sets of flood lights
and if enough people turn up I expect it to be a very enjoyable evening.

Before I close I must say that apart from the swimming pools all up and running, and seeing the Golf Course being used on a regular daily basis, the one thing
I am looking forward to is the unveiling of the Palm trees. All over the Resort they stand like Totem Poles with their leaves rapped in  bindings,I know it will make such a difference once they are off, adding to the splendour of this wonderful Resort.

Bye for now Lennie.

Good to have you back Lennie,

Is the course open yet or is it just the 'special people' who are playing?  Also what about the temp bar?

Its been reported that the 16th is the opening but there's been nothing official - as usual.

Thanks for the Sucina GS application form.  I'll do some more investigating when over.

Enjoy the barbie and hope the weather is improving all the time!

Regards,
Harry

Hi guys,

Another glorious day today, with temps in the mid seventies, with plenty of sunshine.

Today I witnessed something extrordinary that I have never seen before,I had just bought my first pint at the Bar /cafe,and I do mean my first pint lol
I looked up in the sky to see where the Sun was as I like to sit in the Sun.and was amazed to see the Sun was completely circled by what I can only describe as
a huge Halo, rather like a circular Rainbow. It was immense in size, bearing in mind how far away the Sun is it could have been thousands of miles across.
If any one out there can throw some light on what it was,I would be very interested to know.It stayed there for hours,Quite eerie really.

With regards to Harrys questions,The Bar/cafe is a nice enough place for drinks and coffee, also eats,as a temporary measure,I also like it as its a stones throw from my appartment. Ive also met some really nice people there.

No. Harry the Golf Course is not being played on,not even by "Special People" lol.dont know why, but will make enqiries, the Course itself is being constantly nursed
its either being watered, cut, fed,or dressed something or other.

Ive been invited to LOUIS Bar on friday so I will see if I can get you any more info on Sucina G S.

The last pool is finished over at Indico 75 It  has Blue Mosaic tiling like all the other pools, not cream as I first stated, and there is a family in an appartment there.
this week, but the pool is empty.

The Driving Range was busy today as was the chip and putt green. The feeling I got from listening to Golfers at the Bar,Is that the course will be dificult to play
and very demanding,One guy mentioned it could be a  PGA Course with International tournaments being held here.

The 5 day weather forcast looks good so Im looking forward to the rest of the week.

Bye for now   Lennie

Hi Len

I put 'sun halo' into Google and came up with this link.   Take a look and see if the picture is anything like you saw.      If not....maybe Riquelme is more famous than we realise.   I hope it doesn't get over populated....the bar's not big enough and I haven't yet learned to speak Spanish let alone Martian !!!!

Hi Linda,

After your comment I visited Google and also typed in Sun Halo I viewed all of the sites listed and the one that is excactly identical to
what we had here is  Sun Ring in Forida Key-iReport .com.There is video footage(  amazing  ).

Thanks for your message,What I didnt tell you all last night was,I ran back to the appartment from the bar to get my cameras, I was so anxious
to film it from my balcony before it dissapeared that I ran into the patio doors thinking they were open and got the shock of my life when I
found they were closed,(its getting to be a party trick of mine I did the same thing at La Torre) i must refrain from doing it lol).

Bye for now  Lennie

Hi Lennie,
like everyone else I really enjoy your posts. They are very informative. Our place is on Phase 5 Block 88. We were over while you were away furnishing etc, sorry about your loss, and really we were quite suprised as to how well the place looks. Good to hear that some of the pools are starting to open. great that the bar has opened also. We would love to be there for the BBQ on sat night but alas not to be. Enjoy your time on HR and hope to meet up with you when we go over in September.

Hi folks,

It has been a quiet day today with little to report, with the usual watering going on all around, men hoovering the bottom of my pool
then adding chemicals into the water.Ive been told it should be open in four days time which is excellent news.
The Golf course had its daily watering and feed.and the greens look beautiful.

Apart from my passion of guitar music and learning to play (badly) some of you may be interested to know I write poetry and belong to an American
Internet site called All Poetry .com.Where I have my own page containing over 70 poems of mine.

When I started to write on the Hacienda Riquelme forum,I informed the readers that this was such a large step for me to take, moving out here
and completely changing my life, but all the concerns I had vanished once I was here and moved in.Im sure all of you had similar concerns
and buying out here was a big step for you as it was for me.and I do hope you all feel like I do once your here and settled in.

Back in 2005 I wrote this poem conveying my thoughts, fears and dreams,

              VIVA ESPANA

As I stand and face towards the Future
With great uncertainty deep in my mind
Picturing a life with bright new horizons
Is Utopia really out there for me to find

Will I find the kind of life Im searching for
Is it a pipedream or merely just a myth
If my hopes and dreams cannot be found
Then I know I will no longer wonder if

I know I will have tried and pursued
To find myself a better kind of life
This time I will have to make it on my own
As I no longer have a wife

The time now is rapidly approaching me
When employment is a thing of the past
Where life is run by the hands of a clock
And my life and time are disappearing fast

I truly hope what I am doing is right for me
Time to up sticks and pack my bags and go
This unknown journey is something I must do
I have to take this chance or I will never know

With the beautiful sounds of Spanish guitars
Sangria and the warm Mediteranean sea
To discover my Rainbow has a crock of gold
Would surely mean everything to me.

Bye for now   Lennie
