Hi All!

Just registered on this site. I must say it is great to hear how things are developing , sounds like the golf couse will be opening very soon. I will be coming over in a couple of weeks to meet agents and view our property as now furnished.

Just received information on the AGM-which I will read tomorrow. We are in Phase 4 and our date is set for 19 June. Do you know anyone in PHASE 4 who is running for election? Looks like a full time job!

Can`t wait to see the place and sounds like i will be able to swim and play golf this time.

Bye for now

Neil

Hi folks,

As you are now aware the main interest for discussion is the forth coming meetings to set up a committe to look after the interests of all the residents on the Hacienda Riqelme Resort, for the next 12 months.

Ive had my say on the community thread, and have now decided I would like to be nominated as a committe member as being a resident living on the resort ,I feel I could add more weight to a committe than a resident whos not.

Not a lot to say about the Bar B Q night, other than to say it was very dissapointing,I got fed and watered but met no one new who was staying at Requelme.

I would have prefered a small Bar B Q at the bar/cafe area for Haciendans to meet up and get  to know each other .rather than a Shuttle Bus Beano for Mar Menor
and La torre residents. To be fair to Polaris they did not advertise it  as anything other than a Summertime Bar B Q..

I felt more thought should have been directed towards the Haciendans, to help start building a community spirit, after all other two have been up and running for
some time, and if they dont have a good community spirit by now, they never will have.

Bye for now   Lennie.

Well done Lennie,

There will be a few more people on-site in the next few weeks as its been posted elsewhere that some are turning up for the meetings.

Hang around in the bar and and you should be meeting up with a few more residents.  We'll be over for a couple of week June/July.  See you then.

Hi folks,

Today saw the Mar Menor Golf Society turn up in full force to play on the Hacienda golf course another "Special Day"
Competition. The weather was very good and the course looked fantastic,

I had to go shopping,.and got back to Requelme late afternoon, but I managed to stop one of the players before he
drove off and enquired what he thought of the course..

He said it is a fabulous course, very demanding, and most deffinately a Buggy course.he found dragging or pushing
a trolley around quite draing as the course is very long.

The course he claimed was an International course, which the better players among you will love to play, but the less
talented will find it frustrating, and because of the difficulty to play it, they may get disheartend.     Im staying well away lol.

It was lovely surprise to meet two of our regulars on the forum last week Mozz, and Patrolls hoping to meet more of you
in the coming months..

Next week I have two of my sons and their partners staying with me, which I am really looking forward to,The pool is open,
the fridge and wine rack are well stocked so roll on Sunday.

Bye for now    Lennie

Hi Lennie

Please keep up your very imformative posts, they are just great.

Going back to the 'Halo' effect you mentioned, I'd just like to say that we too were in Murcia on the same day and witnessed what can only be classed as extremely spooky yet wonderful. We were actually on the beach when my wife noticed this amazing ring around the sun. Luckily we had a camera and I took a couple of snaps....please let me know and I can post them somewhere for all to view.

Regards.

Go onto the photo section and upload them for everyone to see.
We were out there last week and saw them on Lennies camera, but he hasn't uploaded yet.
Should be interesting to see it on the big screen.

Hi Len

I'm also keen to see your photo and if you want to email it to me I'll print it out on A4 photo sheet for you and bring it over when we come Monday week.    I have also written on the 'Community' thread.

I hadn't been on the site for a couple of days and began to get withdrawal symptoms, but I'm sure I speak for us all when I say that your updates are certainly something we look forward to.   I'm now calling our resort 'Riquelme at the Helm' .   Can anyone out there come up with something more adventurous ??

Linda

Hi folks,

Today was another scorcher, with the grounds men watering the communial areas prior to cutting at about 5 pm.

Thursday night is going to be a regular Quiz and Bingo night, last night was the second night it had been held

and just like the previous Thursday it was poorly attended because Polaris once again did not put up the advertising

posters the really nice couple running it had provided,There were 3 tables competing last night a total of 8 people.

To make matters worst tonight unbeknown to any one, there is a Kareoki and a Bar B Q, with enough food to feed a

small army,Once again no advertising.  Posters were put up in the bar a short time before the cooking started so I  am

told, Also with a price tag of 29 euro for food and one free drink,I think thats a bit steep.Although there was a beautiful

selection of food, and its a shame no one was eating, whether it was too expensive or not.

Any way on to more pleasing news, for those of you with young children, you will be pleased to know Polaris are in the

process of erecting 2 activity play areas in Indico Rd in front of the side of the Hacienda Gardens, they look to be made

of extremely good quality materials and are very pleasing to the eye.Kids should love them.

Tomorrow the course opens with a free round of Golf to every appartment owner which apparently has to be booked in advance.

I bet they cant wait to get out there,I expect we will be besieged by Mar Menor and La Torre golfers unless its for Riquelme

players only  on the first 2 days,I dont know.

Bye for now   Lennie.

Hi Lennie,
Does that mean that there is a free round of golf waiting for every apartment to be booked when we arrive, or was it just for the two open days?

Just the two open days this weekend I'm afraid....and I think it was for any golfers who wanted to turn up not just HR or PW folks. It wasn't restricted so I guess it would be pretty busy!!. I suspect those who were just going to turn up and expect to play when they wanted would be disappointed.!

In addition to the open days there is a Twilight offer for golf , which applies to any of the PW courses from now until 15th September, which is 30 Euros for a round after 5:00 pm. Best time really as its too hot during the day! Otherwise its Owners rates of 55 Euros per round (unless you buy a 3 or 5 round ticket which is cheaper still).

You should also have your free four-ball voucher in your Welcome Pack that you can use.

We left last saturday.

During our stay they started putting lighting posts up around the pratice area.

Have these been set & switched on yet?

I dont think they are lighting posts....I think they are for netting or fencing to stop stray balls either going onto the entrance roadway or over the end onto the second green. I will ask tomorrow to see if I can an answer.

The green posts you saw are indeed for netting to be erected around the driving range. The site is getting better everyday. I have just spent six days there with the most fantastic weather. Our pool is lovely and we are very pleased with how eveything is going. They started to open lots of the palm trees and the security entrance looks finished. They had a tv screen at the bar to watch the euro football on. They are working hard to get the main road completed into the complex from Sucina. There is still lots of guys on site gardening, building, sweeping. I do hope that you all enjoy it when you get out there.

Nic

Once again thank you for the update.
We were out there a couple of weeks ago and wondered what the poles were for. Now we know.
Always a pleasure to hear from you.

Can some body ask at the pro shop if the posts on the practice range will have lights on?

They looked nailed on to be lighting columns when I seen them being painted and erected 10 days ago.

Cheers
Mozz

Hi folks,

We are basking in temperatures in the 80s out here and its been like it for weeks
thank god for the swimming pools.

The Presidents had a communial garden and pool tour this week and I presume they
passed on their findings, because we are getting more water sprayed now than at
any other time,Due to the heat grass is being scorched,Not the golf course i hasten to add.

For those Pumping Iron enthusiasts, at the Atlantico side of the intended Sprts facilities area
an out door gym has been erected with about a dozen pieces of excercise equipment.

To night saw a good turnout at the Bar area for the quiz and bingo, it has a really nice atmosphere
and is well worth attending.

Until I attended the Resortalia meeting I was unaware that pets would be allowed on the resort.
It states in the rules that dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, which is fair enough.
I have seen maybe half a dozen dogs with their owners, and have not come across any  fouling
of the footpath so one would presume the owners are responsible people.

I am a dog lover, and we have two bull dogs back home in the UK but I would like your views on
the subject should I consider buying a dog out here or make do with a tin of salmon lol
How many would be upset to have dogs on the resort or would it just be accepted.?

Bye for now   Lennie

Hi Lennie

Good to hear from you again Lennie & perhaps we might actually get chance to meet up soon, as we are coming over today for a few days! We can't wait to feel the sun on our backs once more & to escape our horrendous summer!

Re your dogs on HR query -  at the risk of making myself reallyunpopular with some - I have to say that personally I am not keen on the idea of dogs being kept on HR, particularly if some owners are less responsible than the ones you have obviously encountered to date.

When we were in the process of completing - we stayed at La Torre & there was a dog there (a few apartments away from us) that was very aggressive & that barked incessantly & very loudly, every time we went outside or attempted to sit in our garden, which made relaxation completely impossible! We gave up & just kept going out in the end!

Whilst I appreciate that some dogs are better behaved than others, I live in fear of finding myself in that position on HR, as it would completely spoil the enjoyment of our property. Sorry Lennie - I am sure that is not the response you wanted, but that is how I feel; although I appreciate that others may not fel the same way!

Kind regards, Jan

At the risk of making myself unpopular as well, I agree with you lobster.
I am a dog lover, and have always had a dog, but when you go away to a resort like HR, for some peace and quiet, the last thing that you want is a yapping or barking dog. God Bless Um.
