Where Do I Live??? I thought I knew but apparantly I don't!
So, I live between three locations
a) In Scandinavia husbands work commitments, employer provided apartment
b) In UK elderly relatives so we own a small shoebox to maintain a UK base for ourselves
c) In Spain a property bought to be our main home and with most of our 'stuff'
I move regularly between the three locations, spending a few weeks here, a few weeks there, never spending months at a time in any one location (that would be a joy). In all 3 places I live a day to day life, cooking, shopping, cleaning, going our for meals and meeting friends etc. In the UK and Spain we have all the usual responsibilities of owning a property and paying our bills. We have commitments one way or another in all 3 places. The property in Spain was bought with the intention of it being our main home and the place we will retire to and spend most of our time when we no longer have to divide our time between other locations.
My husband considers Scandinavia his workplace and Spain his home and the UK a popping in to visit his parents place or to do any essential jobs that require his skills. We do not spend more than 183 days in any one year in any one place. So do I consider Spain a 'holiday home' and not a place I actually live, or is that the UK or Scandinavia? Or do I qualify to live in all 3 as I probably spend more or less equal amounts of time in each, have lots of experience of what I thought was living in each and have done for many years? Is there a magic number of days which if you spend in a country you can safely say you live there? When going 'on holiday' we don't go to the UK, Spain or Scandinavia............
Or do I just exist in a twilight zone not belonging or living anywhere? I admit that each day when I wake up the first thing I have to do is establish which country I am in, then what day is it and finally what time it is. If I don't live in any of these places what am I doing each day as I go about my business?
Any advice for a confused soul?
