Hi All,
I want to build a pool and obviously need planning permission but do I need to get a architect to draw up the plans????
Or will a home made jobby suffice for the council office??
Also if someone is really feeling intelligent! could you please be able to advise on the thickness of the walls required for a above ground pool? say 10x4.......will be using reinforced concrete blocks with steel and concrete.
Many thanks

Hi, to be legal 8x4 is the maximum now allowed with a depth of 1 or 1,2 meters. 18x4 for communal pools. To my knowledge you need an architect to do the plans & I don't know whether they allow you to build above the ground. if you re going to build above ground , why not buy an above ground steel framed pool ? A 0,75x 4,75 will cost less than 1800€'s which is what the licence will cost to build one + the architect ! Plus an above ground pool is classed as de-mountable & doesn't require a licence or add to your council tax bill.
