As most of you already know, but for those who don't, today in Spain is.....
Los Tres Reyes Magos (The Three Kings)
On this day, the day before Epiphany, every town will be holding there own celebrations and the Cabalgata Los Reyes (Kings Parade).
Children will be dressed in their best clothes and also be incredibly excited, as tonight they will see the precession through their town of the Three Kings...
Baltasar, Gaspar and Melchor.
During the procession, sweets are thrown into the crowd by the Three Kings and their attendants, and there are dancers and performers preceding and following the procession as it winds through the streets.
After the procession and the rest of the evenings festivities, the children can't wait to get home and go to bed, as in the morning, they will awake to find their 'Christmas' presents.
Please read this great article, which is far more articulate and gives much more 'flavour' to tonight's events.
We're off down to Sabinillas now for some Tapas (and a cerveza) and then tonight we'll be back down there for the festival!
Un saludo!
