Non Resident Certificate 2 yearly payment
The Comments |
Hi All
We have just been charged € 72.64 from our bank for 2 so called non. resident certificates. Like most things in life, getting banks to do things cost a lot more than sorting this out yourself. Is this possible. If yes, how do you go about paying it, and what documents do you need to bring, and where to go to pay it. We come under the Fuengirola region.
Thanks for any help.

As far as I understand it that is the bank's charge for maintaining a non-resident's account
There is no free banking in Spain even if your account is in credit all the time.

These are the charges. To me, it is confusing as to which is the non res charge and which is the banks charge for doing it.
€ 29.50 COMISSIONS/FEES PETICIÓN CERTIF. NO RESIDENCIA
€ 6.82 NON RESIDENCE AUTHORISAT.CHARGE
€ 29.50 COMISSIONS/FEES PETICIÓN CERTIF. NO RESIDENCIA
€ 6.82 NON RESIDENCE AUTHORISAT.CHARGE
TOTAL € 72.64

Our bank, La Caixa, charge us approx 30€ a year as a maintenance fee.Although it is a joint account there is only one fee. Someone I know pays 2 fees so I'm not going to rock the boat on that one!
They do also charge if you pay money in from a UK account. Maybe they are just "catching up" on their charges! You could email and ask them what the charges are for. I'm sure they will have someone who can respond in english. I must admit it is confusing though. One year we paid 30€ charges and earned 2€ interest!
