Hi
As far as I'm aware you are not able to re register a English commercial vehicle or car-derived van in Spain
I may be wrong, there may be loophole

Assuming it's right hand drive, he will not be able to register it in Spain, and anyway, any alterations to the original spec (e.g. converting it to a refridgerated vehicle) would need to be recorded on the vehicle documents as official alterations (homologated)

Homologation may be the word you're looking for.

As explained by previous posters you cannot legally re-matriculate any type of rhd commercialvehicle. You can actually see some driving around & on sale , generally around the Alicante area, but in the event of a serious accident involving court appearances the registration will be rescinded as incorrectly registered.
Many of those registered have come for re-registration on French plates , where it is legal to re-reg a rhd van, & looked to have slipped through.
