New arrival in Gibraltar

HI ! very new to all of this but here goes....

I will be starting a new job in Gibraltar late August (2012) and flying over from the UK a few days prior to that, so am trying to figure out what to do about accommodation & travel to work for my arrival! I am a single girl in her 20's.

I don't know the area too well (apart from a brief walk around La linea/GIB for the interview) and have no contacts there yet. Seems like there are some nice apartments for rent in la Duquesa but i need to get to work and won't have a car immediately and finding a good safe bus timetable is a bit of a nightmare! ....how come there are so many cheap properties in la Duquesa... could that mean nobody is living there? would it be safe for me? 

Maybe a flat share near Gib or even a car share to work would be an option, but again as i don't know anybody yet it's a bit tricky to sort out prior to my arrival!

If anybody has any tips or advice it would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks for the tip, I spotted that site before and it seems quite useful... :)

....any more tips from people or workers in online gaming would be welcome...!

Maybe someone has a spare room to let for a short time? 

or would be handy to know what the bus service/times/duration is like from say manilva/la duquesa or is there anybody who wants to car share for 9-5 working hours? 

 Or book in to the nearest cheapest hotel to your workplace for a few nights until you meet others who will give you plenty of help.
