I did see the photos on the pets section but the people who want the German Shepherd posted on Questions and Answers so they might not see it.
They asked for breeder information but others suggested they search in the various dog homes instead.
As she's a 6 months old she should be ideal, I got mine when she was 5 months and she looked very much like the one in the photo except that she always held her head to the side whenever I tried to take a photo. Probably because I was always talking to her to try to get her to look up, had to take the photo quickly before she moved to be near to me. Still miss her even after 19 years, perhaps when we settle in Spain I'll get another dog.

Thanks Semi, I have sent the people wanting a German Shepherd a message so hopefully they will get in touch if they haven't found one already. I can't believe someone threw her over a wall and drove off, what goes through these peoples heads when doing such a horrible thing, she is such a sweet girl and loves everyone. I am sure she will be one of the lucky ones and find a home pretty quick unlike the others we have.
We had a call from the kennels yesterday where we have 5 dogs boarding and they have given us 2 days to get the dogs out as they have been fully booked up. We are in a right mess trying to get these dogs in foster homes, Finca Lucendum have taken 1 but we are really struggling with the others as all our foster homes are full. If anyone knows of someone who can help please get in contact. The dogs we need foster homes for are the Podenco, the Husky cross, the Catalan Sheepdog...(my favourite as he is a big softie) and the German Shepherd puppy. It is so hard to find foster homes for the bigger dogs and they end up in kennels until they find a home.

Yvonne, can you explain how the fostering of a dog works. I was chatting with friends who live permanently now in Benijofar. Vanessa was telling me her husband, Pete, would love a dog but it would be such a tie & expensive what with vets bills etc.
At the time I believed I'd seen an advert (was over a year ago) in one of the free papers so Coastrider, RTN or Leader, that foster homes were needed for dogs. I was sure it said all vets fees were paid & when the fosterers had to go away or had booked a holiday the dog would be taken back till the foster family were able to resume looking after the dog.
I then couldn't find the bit in the paper to give them & it was never mentioned again. I have no idea if they would consider having a dog to foster but it would be of interest to many if you could explain how it works. I'm sure many would love a dog but can't look after one financially.
Wonderful news about these few dogs finding homes. This message was last edited by morerosado on 8/12/2008.

Wonderful news about the re-homing of the dogs, I would have thought the poodle would have gone as well. Ideal breed for the house proud as they don't shed hair.
I also read something similar, More, as I've considered fostering but as we only out there for short periods (3 weeks) at a time it wouldn't be fair on the animal. When we are out for longer periods I will register as a prospective candidate.
To have a definitive articule describing what's involved with fostering would definately help.
I think I also read that if you adopted a dog from a particular association they would accept the dog back for kenneling when you went on holiday. A good idea especially if you need to return home in an emergency and also a source of extra income for the animal charity.

When we find an abandoned animal it goes straight to the Vet for blood tests and a general health check, more often than not the animal stays in the Vet overnight to make sure there is no serious health problems. The next day we will take the animals to the foster home where it will stay until it has been adopted. If there are any problems with their health while they are in a foster home we will cover all costs of the animal. If the foster carer has to go away suddenly we will try to find another temporary home or kennels. If the foster carer decides to keep the animal then we can no longer pay the Vet fees as we need the funds for the next animal we find. It normally takes a week or 2 to for an animal to get adopted but this all depends on what breed or size, it can sometimes take much longer to re-home but we will only ask a foster carer to look after the animal as long as they are able to, if they have stated they can only look after the animal for a couple of weeks it will give us 2 weeks to find a new foster home which is what we need. We do not have a kennels and we have to pay to board any of our animals in kennels so the more foster homes we have the better. Hope I have covered everything, if I have forgotten anything please let me know.
