I wonder if anyone can offer any advice. My daughter has just started her second year of Bachillerato and she is entitled to a grant to fund school books etc. Last year we applied for the grant but were unsuccesful so we had to buy all her books which are quite expensive. We had hoped to get grant this year but after constantly contacting the relevant authorities we have not heard anything. Nearly all of my daughters friends received the full or partial grant, many of them having a much higher income than we have. Has anyone any experience of this any advice would be most appreciated.

Barbara.

Hello Barrydh,

I live in the inland area of Malaga, its really  lovely  here, there are many  beautiful Spanish villages in this area and plenty of golf courses down on the coast. I live on the edge of a large village called Villanueva del Trabuco which would probably be to far inland for you, we have a great golf course near by called Antequera golf, it is one of the few inland golf courses in this area. I wish you every success with your move. Barbie.

Rixxy. Good to hear from you after so long! It sounds as though both of your children have done very well in their own particular ways, its lovely to hear of their success, I am from Newcastle and the Falcons would be a fantastic team for your son, the North East is a very friendly place to live. Your daughter is doing so well at uni, you must be very proud of her, we are hoping Jessica will stay in Spain but she is considering returning to the UK for uni, she will do whats right for her I am sure.  We are missing Jamie so much at the moment, but I speak to him most days and he is very much enjoying his course, he didnt ever really settle here and is happy to be back home. Jessica is also studying science at the moment but stil doesnt know what she wants to do in the future, she had wanted to train to be Doctor but has now decided that this is not for her.

So good to hear things are going well - must keep in touch.

Cant believe its been over two years since these posts, what a lot has happened since then! To update - Jessica has finished school now and has started bachillerato along with many of her friends, she is actually the only English student attending! She has continued to thrive and grow here in Spain, she became completely fluent so quickly and continued to take part in all the local music events incluidng the village band etc. She was so sad to finish school last June and had become very settled and happy there, although she did enjoy a trip to Paris with her class. We were so proud of her when we got her final exam results, she acheived the highest mark for the girls in her year, all her very hard work had paid off! My son also finished school this year where he continued to go to an International school, he is now back in the UK at uni, studying  for a law degree and has done very well. Our youngest daughter now has all Spanish friends and is very much integrated into the localcommunity, her Spanish is now excellent and she is doing so much better at school, she loves being in a Spanish school and being fluent in Spanish.

Rixxy, if you read this, I hope your daughter is continuing to do well at uni, would love an update!
