Roberto, best post yet. Although other posts have included some good advice your post pinpoints the essential ingredient to be considered when moving to Spain. That is, do you like to be involved - even from your armchair - in local and national matters involving your Country or can you live outside this? Neither is right or wrong - just personal choice. If you do like to feel part of what is happening around you, or if you are just happy to let it all happen because it is not your Country and nothing to do with you, is what separates the two types of people. I lived in Spain for 8 years but always felt like an outsider as pleasant and friendly as the locals were - it just wasn't my Country and never would be. Anyone thinking of moving lock, stock and barrel should, as you advised, keep a foothold in the UK until they are absolutely sure about the move - the UK with all its faults, and they are many, it is still a great place and it 's my place!
