I am totally disgusted with #DoYouSpain #OKRentaCar and #Haloinsurance. One does not expect to pay for a Platinum Gold cover insurance and not be covered in case of a breakdown (in which case was a flat battery) To be charged €240 (R4600) for a tow truck to jumpstart the battery is ludicrous. Had I have known it was the battery and not the immobiliser (as was mentioned by #OKRentaCar) then I would have jumpstart the hired car myself. On telephoning on the day I was quoted €60 to send a tow truck which I believed was unreasonable due to advice given on purchasing a new battery for the immobiliser not making a difference. Besides which #OKRentaCar have been totally dishonest in the mileage used during the car hire period by completing a new invoice showing an incredibly high mileage.
DoYouSpain/Halo insurance will not cover this breakdown for reasons being "We have reviewed your claim and regret to advise that, on this occasion, we are unable to offer any financial assistance. Our policy excludes mechanical breakdown under General Exclusions section 17 of the policy wording. The policy wording can be found under the heading General Exclusions on page 6 as follows:
17) Wear and Tear. Wear and tear, gradual deterioration, mechanical breakdown and derangement, insect or vermin, inherent vice. (WEAR AND TEAR ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE)
The OK RENT A CAR staff offer their own insurance to all customers, regardless of whether they’ve already taken out insurance with another company or not.
Remember not to take the extra insurance offered by OK RENT A CAR at the local office – simply decline if they ask you to purchase it. You don’t need it because you’re already covered with ours. YET DOYOUSPAIN HAVE DECLINED MY CLAIM! ADVICE ANYONE? THANK YOU.
