Hello to all,

I am looking for -ideally- a 3 bedroom apartment somewhere in the areas of Miraflores/Riviera, Calahonda, Cabopino, Las Chapas, Elviria, El Casco, Alicate, Santa Clara, Las Dunas, Los Monteros or Rio Real. It should have easy access as it is for my parents (my father is 82).

We own a fantastic apartment in the new and exclusive resort of Playa Macenas (www.playamacenas.es) as described in another thread and would be interested in exchanging it or offering it as part-payment. A photo presentation is available under request.

Please send me a pm or an email to cbungard@jumpingfrontiers.com with information if this proposal could be of interest to you.

Kind regards,

Christian.

Dear Sue and Paul,

You will love Granada! To add a bit more to your adventure, here are two places you MUST go, one for tapas, the other for dinner -you must book in advance.

Restaurant Chikito. This is part of Granada's social history. It is the centre, in the Campillo square.

El Huerto de Juan Ranas. With one of the most breathtaking views in the World! -and I am not exaggerating. This restaurant is situated in the heart of the Albaycin, the Jewish quarter, just underneath the San Nicolás mirador (a good place to come and enjoy a tapas lunch). The spectacular views are of the Alhambra at its full -from the Generalife, Nazaries Palace and the Alcazaba (fortress) with its impressive Tower of La Vela. And all lit up. It is really stunning. The last time I was there was with a close friend of ours from Dubai, a pure Arab with a very close -blood-line- link to Abderraman, the founder of the Caliph of Cordoba. So you get an idea, he sat there and cried when he saw the sight. Very emotional.

BTW, did you know why the rope Arabs wear to hold their turbans is black? For the mourning of the loss of Granada! Amazing but true, and apparently even few Muslims know this.

If you drive south towards Motril, you will reach a point (not so 'exotic' now with the motorway -better on the old road) called the Moor's sigh. This is the point from where Boabdil last saw Granada. And so the legend goes is where is mother told him: "don't cry like a woman what you couldn't defend like a man".

Hi Susan,

What are you learning? Flamenco or... Sevillanas?

Sevillanas is fantastic and is quite easy to learn -hmmm.. yes it is! Your timing is good. I noticed that you live on the Costa del Sol, so if your quick you've got Marbella fair to look forward to, followed by the other main ones: Estepona, Los Boliches, Malaga, Torremolinos, Fuengirola (the best!) and San Pedro.

Are they teaching you the Spanish secret? lift your hand to the tree, take the apple, bring it down to your mouth and though it away? It is a very sensual dance!

Hello to all,

Last night on TV was the second part of a film/documentary based on the failed attempt of the terrorist group ETA to kill King Juan Carlos. The story made your blood freeze, as they where able to shoot him in several occasions.

During summer of 1995 an ETA commando prepared the most 'ambitious' attack ever: to kill the King. They wanted to 'decapitate' Spain, by also murdering Aznar, which they tried to by blowing up his car in Madrid. Luckily, he survived.

The attempt to kill the king was so macabre as simple. ETA hired and apartment in Palma de Mallorca, right opposite where the Royal Yacht 'Fortuna' moored, only a few hundred metres away. They trained a shooter, bought a boat in the South of France and sailed to Alcudia with their dreaded arsenal.

Although the police where controlling their movements in Southern France and in Mallorca, until 48 hours before the planned time to kill the King, police did not have sufficient evidence/information to pin them down. Fortunately, a couple of mistakes made by the commando gave them enough reasons to catch them -the night before.

The very scary part was to see how, in no less than in three occasions, the shooter had the King pointed at and could have shot him.

What would have happened if this terrific attack had been successful? God only knows.

Thank God the King is alive and kicking, and let’s hope for a long time to come.
