I didn't agree with much of Richie's political philosophy. Too much naive '60s hippie, dippie "love and peace" sentimentalizing. He particularly had a blind eye for the growth of radical Islam. He did however believe in free speech and allowed all to express their opinions using RFE's "no screening" on-line call system. Another weakness was his making the show available to all kinds of loony conspiracy theorists.
Need to return to the somewhat more skeptical, conservative approach of Maurice Boland. Barry Nathan would be my choice to replace him.
