Hi All,

Newbie here. More info on profile. I read the below post by Mariedav with interest.

''compaid

Not true. You can have your card withdrawn. Even rumours about ex-pats being classed as Third country residents after Brexit. SIP card status still unknown.

And  I don't think that's true for someone who has been working and paying social security for the last 14 years. Anyone who was resident before (I think April) 2012 was allowed to retain full access to healthcare and retained their SIP cards regardless of age. It was only when the PP changed the rules in 2012 that EU residents under retirement age had to show access to private healthcare but those already residents didn't have to do that.

Pointless saying what might happen after the B word as nobody yet knows.

Same as getting a temp SIP card for 6 months which is based on your EHIC as we "might" not have those either.''

My Specific Situation

I'm considering returning to live in Spain before 31st Dec. 2020. Single Female 54. Scenario for now - I won't be officially working. Lived in Alicante region 2004-2006. Had one official employment contract for a few months.  Was by the book so got NIE, Social Security No., Padron, Residencia, and SIP card. Kept the paperwork. The SIP card has no expiry date and is for Generalitat Valenciana. I appreciate nobody might know the answers to my 2 questions 100% but:

1. I'm wondering if this SIP card will be sufficient for the TIE application form? (which I will review soon).

2. I can't decide whether to live in Alicante province or Murcia province this time. Would this SIP card (if still valid) also be valid in Murcia province?

All knowledge welcome. Thanks. I will also shortly look into quotes for Private Healthcare just in case!
