I would greatly appreciate any guidance if anyone else has experience like my position here as I am sure there must be more than me.
I am 54 and have left employment and recieving a personally funded PHI policy payout. This is from the UK and is excempt from UK tax (yippee) We only moved to Spain in June 2014 and have retained a place in the UK. The PHI payer insist that I remain a UK resident for tax purposes.
As an ex Bank Manager I want to do things correctly, I have my NIE, Spanish Bank Account and now property in Spain.
My questions are really these.
If I have not spent 186 days in 2014 in Spain do I need to fill any tax forms out here?
As I currently only have the above UK tax free Income would I incur tax implications out here?
My Wife who is also here is dependent on my and has a minimal Civil Service pension of approx £2500 currently as she could draw that from 50. Are things different for her?
Thanks and any input you can provide would be helpful. Willie147
