I voted remain purely form a selfish point of view living in Spain and wanting an easy life,  but I am disgusted by the comments from other remainers who make disparaging remarks about leavers, assuming they were all idiots, or the vote was not democratic, and I've seem abusive remarks on social media.

Of course there were lies told leading up to the vote, but let's get real people, politicians always lie leading up to elections and we never call for another election or if the vote was close to elect your MP the best you can hope for is a recount just in case.

I was very surprised by the result, as was most of the country but I accepted it was the will of the people, and was willing to wait and see what bilateral agreements would be worked out between Spain and UK with regard to health etc. I was happy that I had fulfilled all my legal obligations here with regard to residency etc.

The other thing that annoys me is the assumption, that now that the electorate know all the facts, (nonsense of course as many are not clever enough or bothered enough), that somehow the outcome will be different in another referendum, but, surprisingly, some polls are showing that if "leave with no deal" was an option, the majority would tick that box.

I'm thoroughly fed up with it and would tick the "leave with no deal" box now. It seems the EU are treating the UK like a naughty child and the deal is weighted heavily in their favour.

The fear campaign in 2016 clearly was a mistake but the lesson hasn't been learnt, so if there is a second referendum, at least try and show the benefits of staying in EU and not the negatives of leaving.

I also believe the referendum was a mistake, and Cameron was quick to disappear afterwards leaving politicians from both parties in a very difficult position, some obviously out of touch with the electorate. I also think that the referendum gave ordinary people the opportunity to stick two fingers up to politicians to show their dissatisfaction with the political classes in general.  We can see this happening in other countries as well when politicians ignore the fears or concerns of a huge raft of the electorate.

The British are not good at demonstrating unlike some of our European neighbours and we prefer to moan amongst ourselves so when an opportunity came around to do something anonymously I believe many took it just to show them.

Thread: Deal or no Deal

Sorry for bad spelling on last posting but it was late.!! This marriage proof is driving our friends around the twist. Ask yourself , how can you prove that you are still married. A "current " marriage certificate could be construed as a recent certified copy from the G.R.O. in UK and then you could have it legalised, also in UK, and then there would have to be a offficial translation (Traductor Jurado) but all that would prove is that the marriage certificate is legal.

Also the translator who went with them disagreed with my EX-18 form filling (of which I am quite proud as I went to great lengths to get it right (I thought). He completed a new one for them, leaving out passport number, not completing the info for correspondence, not ticking the 2 boxes at the bottom confirming the data you supplied is correct. He also marked the Permanent box despite the fact that no sub categories could be ticked as this was a first apllication and they are retired with no income. He seemed to be confused with some older type of form where temporary meant one year.

Anyway, I'm a bit miffed but as the husband got his little green card it seems how you complete the EX-18 doesn't matter too much at all. I can see the confusion I suppose, as you tick the Temporary box, but say your planned residence in Spain is "Para Siempre". After 5 years residence you become permanent according to the EU's own guide.

Incidentally I joined a Facebook group called Citizens Advice Bureau Spain and was going to upload an example of what I thought was a properly completed EX-18 form when the nice lady who is the Admin there told me I was wrong as well and Permanent box should be ticked. So, not wanting to upset her I have left it. But, as there are wise people on here I would like maybe just one of them to agree with me!

Well, unfortunately our friends failed to get registered as they would not accept the marriage certificate. The husband got his but his wife has to have an up to date marriage certificate to prove she is a genuine dependant. This is despite Nota Simple showing joint ownership, joint bank account, padron showing same surnames and same addresses and lots of othger documents as well. Nowe it appears the marriage cert hgas to be legalised and translated.

I still haven't registered at the Health Centre and I hope to do that next week. I'm getting some help from an interpreter who I know as I think without a tarjeta sanitaria they might be confused. I can't get one of those until I am a UK state pensioner so all I have is my S1 form which was stamped and registered at the INSS office in Huercal Overa but expires in Jan 2014. I got the S1 forms just before leaving UK permanently (the easiest part of the whole operation).
