Bobaol you have just confirmed my own thoughts about the whole situation. The easy bit is deciding to go

(with a job in place, naturally) now the hard bit is working out how to afford it, whilst hanging on to a property over here, if only for a while as a safety net. Our biggest barrier, it seems, is turning out to be finance.

Opportunities like this don’t come round that often in a persons life, if at all, and I know I would be forever saying ‘’what if’’ If we don’t at least try.

So as Acapulco says, first stop the employer, got to get the job first eh!

Hi all,

We've been toying with the idea of moving to Spain on and off for a while. Now that a possible job has come up we are seriously looking at going if it's offered. The company is based in Terrassa, 30km north of Barcelona.

So here I am vigorously searching the www for any information about upping sticks with a wife a 3 year old and a new baby and moving lock, stock and two smoking to Catalonia. All the sites I search seem to use the same written source, saying exactly the same thing but in a different font, which is fine ,I know about registering for this and applying for that, but what about all the stuff before hand??? I mean, say they offer me a place, how long does it take to sort out the move? I would think a while, so OK, lets begin the ball rolling before the offer.... go over and find a place? I have some holiday but no spare cash! Go over on my own and start work to begin with? Then i need to pay a mortgage here and rent there! Where do I start???Clearly I'm going to need some money to begin with, but how much??

I've got so many questions, I don't really know where to begin.......we don't want to sell the house yet just in case it doesn't work out, so we are looking at renting long term to begin with on the wage that comes in. The job I'm going for is an ordinary paid job no high flying income, but it's unusual, so I have a good chance of getting it. Can I just transfer myself and family to Spain or do we need a large chest full of euros’ (which we don't have!) to even start? So how viable is it to move to Spain with a family a job offer and no abundance of spare cash?????

Any pointers towards a sites, blogs with nitty gritty information OR if anybody on here can share their experience of moving with the family that would be great.
