Hi
40 years ago I lived in Spain for three years, I spoke Spanish quite well, wouldn't pretend to do so now. I've just turned 65 and intend to spend winters in Spain for as long as I can.
I have purchased a LHD Mazda MX5 in Portugal on UK plates. The owner runs it on a local MOT which probably isn't legally safe, (UK Tax and MOT expired) and probably won't meet the approval of his insurers. I need to get the car to somewhere between Malaga and Marbella, into secure parking, and under the assistance of a gestor, to get it on Spanish plates asap.
If I can be assured that the insurance will be valid, two brokers checking this now, then I'll fly (from UK) and collect the car. But if the insurance looks dodgy I'll need someone with a car trailer to quote me to collect from The Algarve. Would anyone know someone who could do that?
Now assuming the car has safely arrived on Spanish soil. Would anyone know a good Gestor specialist in vehicles? I read somewhere that a good one can avoid some of the taxes involved.
I have an NIE number at an address in Torremolinos but have lost the certificate, so the Gestor will need to get me a copy too.
All advice welcome. It's hard to arrange this stuff from the UK but I cannot travel for a little while.
