Thanks for that Mac75. I've just found out it's 1200 E gross ... not sure what the taxes are in Spain but I'm guessing I'll end up with about 1000 E .... ? Seems tight, do you think it is still possible to make ends meet renting my own studio? So long as the basics were covered then I could always get the odd private tuition to cover other expenses etc I suppose..

Hello

I've been offered a teaching job in Madrid paying 1200 E a month. I love the sound of the job as it's perfect for me, my only worry is that I won't be able to live on the salary. What do you think? Is 1200 E a month sufficient to live on in Madrid? I've never been to Spain so I'm completely in the dark really. I'm not particularly extravagent but I would like to live in a safe area, it doesn't have to be the most central part of town but it would have to be safe as I'd be a woman living alone. Would my own studio flat be a complete dream?! I'm not a party animal nor do I have to eat out all the time but neither do I want to go to Madrid and have to spend all my time sitting in my flat because I'm spending all my money on food and bills.
