My daughter has her driving test booked in the UK  in a few weeks but is currently here with me in Spain. Obviously she has been practising like mad in UK by jumping in the car at every opportunity and driving us to the shops etc but now we are at our spanish address for a while my question is can she do the same here or are we better off finding half built urbanisations for her to practise. In other words is it legal for a provisional lisence holder to drive in spain with a full license holder and if so what do we put on the car to show other drivers that she is practising. Anyone know?

Ok here is a quiz! my partner was asked to do some work for a legal company. He was offered what appeared to be a good job for reasonable money. the company was even supplying the car and fuel in order for him to do the job- 3 weeks trail and then he would be contracted with all the trappings...sick benefit pension, health care etc

But then a elderly man shot out of a side street of an unfinished urbanisation and crashed right into my partner whilst he was driving the company car on business. Now because the signs were not in place to make the old man at least pause to give way, my partner is being blamed even though it was a no brainer because he was on the main road and the old man was shooting out of a side road.

Because it was deemed my partners "fault" the insurance on the bosses car would not pay because it was only insured third party! so now my partner is having to pay approx 850 euros on repairs to the compant car which was a mess to start with anyway!

is this legal? should his boss have stated at any point "oh and by the way because I am a tight arse I dont have fully comp ins on my company cars so if you damage it you pay out of your own pocket"

Am i being completely naive or are we being taken for a ride?

Please accept apologies if this is in the wrong place or has all been said before.

I have been asked to do a bit of face painting outside a bar during a fiesta next yr but i am not " legal" as this has only ever been a hobby someone has told me that if i give all or most of what i take on the night to a charity , which i should name, i wont get into trouble with the guardia is this true? the bar are not interested in any of what i take as it is far to say that people who pause outside their bar hopefully will pop in for a drink and watch me paint others.

Any Ideas anyone?

i just want to make sure as i dont want anyone to slip into bother

Thank you all so much for your encouragement. That is the great part of forums you really dont feel like you are on your own. It means a lot that you all took the time to post a reply.

We lost my mum nearly 2 years ago now- after a swift and sudden illness  and we realise that  you are a long time dead!

This relative of ours is officiially the only person in our lives that thinks we are being selfish.

After reading all of your posts we are feeling more confident.

We have set up msn and hotmail so there will be no excuses on our relatives part not to keep in touch

We WILL be arriving on the 1st of September! We WILL be making lots of new friends and we WILL be entertaining our long standing English friends (and family, I hope) when they visit!

Look out Mazzaron -here we come ready or not!

Well, after talking about it, dreaming it, thinking about it, planning it,  for about 15 years we are finally DOING IT!!

All right, calm down everyone I mean we are coming to Spain....... In 8 weeks!

We are renting a house on an urbanisation (we have visited before) for 6 months to see if we can do it. The kids are excited, we are excited and I have had to buy a diary especially for our friends visiting rights!  We have work lined up, school places and somewhere to live and money in the bank. As we are only renting out our UK house and renting a spanish house so we are still  sitting on the fence, really, but we feel that in current climate its probably a more sensible stance.

So all is well - except one family member,  who is really mad at us for "jumping ship" ; We have one elderly family member left who is healthy and living an independant life but apparantly according to one of our younger relations we are abandoning our responsibilities. Frankly, I don't suppose this person really believed it was ever going to happen. The alternative is to sit it out and wait for God.

My question are: Are we being selfish? Has anyone else had similar problems? If so what did you do? Should we be even listening to this relations protestations?

I dont want to make enemies out of an otherwise happy family but surely it is down to the members of our little family unit to decide our future. This really is spoiling what should be a happy and exciting time.
