You should try the Altea area. Wonderful micro climate all year round. Visit: www.   altearentals.  com

Selling your car.

A word of warning if you sell your car.

We sold our Spanish registered car to a Spanish used car dealer in Calpe. He seemed a nice guy and said he would handle the paperwork. He paid us in cash and off we went.
A few months later a large amount had been taken from our bnk account by the SUMA office. When we enquired about these charges we were informed that the car is collecting paking fine all over the place and because the car is still registered in our names the fines are being billed to us. The dealer isn't interested in our complaint and until we track the present owner down we continue to pay the fines.

If the car is still registered to us maybe we should find it, steal it back and hold it to ransom until they pay the fines.

Has anyone had the same problem?

In future I will ensure that we visit the Gestor and get it done properly.

I would agree with Alexander 7 about the Costa Blanca north being the best area of Spain. The general area is is very agreeable but you may want to come a little further down from Calpe and Bennisa to the ancient town of Altea on the coast but in the lea of the Sierra de Bernia mountains which serves as a stunning backdrop to the whole area.
Altea has it's own micro climate staying cooler in the summer yet warmer in the winter. The area retains it's Spanish charm and Altea doesn't close in the winter like many parts of Spain.
Also, call me a snob if you like but you won't find any ex pat ghettos in this area.
We love it there.Go to our community web site at: a l t e a n a t u r a . n e t where you can find further info about the area.

Rob.
